About this file

This document is an amendment to a federal solicitation for roof repairs at three buildings on a Veterans Affairs campus. The solicitation is seeking replacement roofing on Buildings 113, 128, and 220. Responses to requests for information are provided, clarifying that formal drawings will not be issued, walkway pads do not need to be included, and aluminum sheet metal should be a minimum of 0.032 gauge. One loading dock bay can be used for work in shifts with one week's notice, and an alternate off-site area is available for longer-term use. The site superintendent must be on-site during work, and separate safety, quality control, and supervisory personnel are required. The response due date is extended to November 15, 2023, with requests for information due by October 25, 2023. The soliciting agency is the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration VISN 12.

RFI’s #2: (IFB) Solicitation 36C25223B0026 578-23-010 (CON) Roof Repairs - Bldgs 113,128, & 220

1. There is a reference to walkway pads in the spec but since there are no plans I'm not sure where they would be needed. Should we include an allowance (maybe "X" amount of lineal feet) in our bid? No.

2. There is a reference in the spec for field, perimeter, & comer pressures of 60 lbf/sq ft and also a reference to a lA-105 windstorm classification. Please clarify what is being expected. 1-60 or better

3. In the sheet metal specifications, I see they are looking for aluminum matreials. Can you clarify what gauge of aluminum is being expected (.032, .040, .050 or .063) per piece? .032 or better.

4. This was listed as a roof restoration but wanted to confirm with you that these buildings are all specified for replacement- is this correct? Yes.

5. Also is it possible to use a fluid applied roof system on qualified roof sections? No.

6. Please confirm if we are able to shut down the third bay of the loading dock for this work. One of bays of the loading dock can be used for 1 shift at a time if needed, provided there is one week notice given to the COR. The bay will not be available uninterruptedly for the duration of the project. It will be limited availability. The space across the street from the bays will be available to use for a prolonged uninterrupted period.

7. Will formal drawings be issued for this project? No.

8. How many full-time individuals will GC be required to have onsite during performance of work? GC needs to have a site superintendent on-site during performance of work.

9. Do SSHO and QC need to be separate individuals? Yes. SSHO and Site Superintendent can be same person. But QC must be a separate individual.

a. Or can SSHO & QC be same person? No. SSHO and Site Superintendent can be same person. But QC must be a separate individual.
