Answers are provided to all Request for Information (RFI) Responses received in response to the solicitation. The suspense date for submission of RFIs has expired. Responses follow:

1. For ALTD-10 on the 8th floor it says to remove all work at exterior walls. ALTD-10 is not listed on sheet AC128A or B, but it is listed on the ALT Sheet. Would you confirm that this includes furring out of the walls and the soffit/blind recess?

RESPONSE: Alternate 10 pertains to window replacement. Alternate 9 pertains to exterior walls and ALL work to remove and replace the plaster, drywall, insulation, etc. from floor to deck above. Alternate 9 pertains to the full height of the interior side of the exterior wall.

2. We noticed that, based on spec. #220533 and sheet #PS100, that this project calls for pipe freeze protection and we were seeking more details relating to that:

· Are there any further details of the pipe freeze protection outside of the referenced spec and drawing available?

· Is it just the (3) sections of pipe shown on sheet PS100 that are being traced?

· What voltages are available for those lines?

RESPONSE: Heat trace is intended for the (3) sections of domestic water piping routed to the decontamination trailer. Heat trace shall be self-regulating/conductive polymer and approved for direct burial as well as wet locations. 120v and 208v are available for power.

3. Section 02 82 12: The provided asbestos inventory which is basically a room by room survey, and I also noticed that there are keynotes on the architectural demo drawings AD108A and AD108B specific to abatement (H1, H2, H3 & H6). Is the intent of the project to remove all asbestos materials from the survey that exist within the project perimeter’s, or is the intent to limit the asbestos abatement to only the rooms where the keynotes are shown? For a specific example, on the attached drawing AD108A, #2(in red), Room number A 846 has no keynotes showing asbestos removal, but in the survey, there is 60 LF pipe insulation, 48 SF transite board, etc. that are asbestos-containing in this room. Since there are no keynotes are these materials remaining?

· On drawing AD108A east west corridor between column line 5 & 6 has an H1, H2 & H3 located in the unlabeled corridor. What are the quantities of the materials in this corridor as they don’t appear on survey.

· On drawing AD108B north west rooms (group of 4) rooms are not labeled and therefore they cannot be cross referenced with the survey. What are the quantities?

· On drawing AD108B room B809- they show keynote H1 in this room which is “abate asbestos 12” or 9” tile and mastic”. In the survey they do not show any asbestos flooring in this room but do show asbestos pipe insulation. Do they want the pipe insulation abated in lieu of the flooring or is there asbestos flooring in this room that isn’t on the survey?

· On drawing AD108B room just outside B809- what is the room number of this area?

RESPONSE: The drawings and report were coordinated and during the AE survey it was noted that some of the abatement work had been done, although we don’t have any confirmation of that work. Based on the AE survey, that particular room should not have any hazardous material.

· During the AE survey it was noted that hazardous material is possible in the corridor based on renovation of corridor at west end, however, there isn’t any quantifiable information available.

· The group of rooms are audiology booths and during the AE survey it was noted that it’s highly likely that there is hazardous material under the booths, however, there isn’t any quantifiable information available.

· During the AE survey it was noted that there is the possibility of hazardous flooring in the room, not noted in the report and that the pipe insulation had been done. We do not have any quantifiable information for the room.

· No existing room number for that area; during AE survey, it was noted that hazardous flooring could be encountered. We do not have any quantifiable information for that area.

4. Has the Department of Veterans Affairs appointed an Company or firm to act as the Commissioning Agent or are they accepting Bids for this service thru these proceedings?

RESPONSE: commissioning is in project scope and the responsibility of contract awardee to provide.

5. Drawing MP010 there is no mention of the Steam Relief Valve Discharge Line. However, per state code and as noted on M400 in the PRV detail there is a relief valve discharge vent needed to get to the atmosphere (I believe it will be a 4” line). What routing the Relief Valve Discharge line is to take to get from the tunnel to atmosphere?

RESPONSE: The steam relief valve discharge line will parallel the HWS and HWR shown on MP010 into the new addition and shall rise up at column F-1 up to first floor ceiling space. Relief vent will be offset above first floor ceiling to the north west near B-3 away from windows and outdoor air intake and rise through roof to the atmosphere.

6. While reviewing the 11 alternates, Alternate 11 leaves 155 days to accomplish the addition and trailer relocate as well as all other work left in scope. Please advise on if the contractor is to work around the clock to achieve this schedule. Or will the alternate durations be revised.

RESPONSE: Alternate deducts are a reduction of scope and thus a reduction of time. Alternate durations are not revised. Provide bid per indicated number of days.

7. Can elevators be used for construction?

RESPONSE: Service elevators can be used during construction.

8. A note on the concrete specifications for lightweight. In section 2.3, paragraph I of the 3300 spec manual, it notes “lightweight shall not weigh more than the dry unit weight shown.”

Please define what the dry unit weight requirement is for lightweight concrete on this project?

RESPONSE: Lightweight concrete is defined as 110 lbs/cuft concrete per the Floor Deck Schedule on SS002. This is the maximum wet unit weight. There is no requirement for dry unit weight.

9. Will a copy of all pre-bid site visit sign-in sheets be provided?

RESPONSE: See attachment no. 1

10. Can you please provide a map showing where dumpsters can be set and the access route through the hospital to access dumpsters?

RESPONSE: See attachment no. 2

11. Will cast iron traps be acceptable?

RESPONSE: See attachment no. 3
