About this file
This document is a detailed technical specification for a Fire Alarm System Upgrade project at the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The project (No. 626A4-23-203) involves furnishing labor, materials, equipment, and supervision to upgrade the existing fire alarm infrastructure across multiple buildings on the medical center campus. The scope includes demolition of existing fire alarm systems and installation of a new networked fire alarm system with new control panels, field devices, and command control equipment.
The project has a 550-calendar day performance period and requires comprehensive documentation, including detailed technical drawings, manufacturer data, installation specifications, and post-installation record documents. Key technical requirements include installing fire alarm control panels in designated buildings, implementing new field devices, ensuring compliance with current VA standards and National Fire Code requirements, and providing systems that enable daily maintenance and manual voice announcements. The contractor must also provide extensive documentation, including functional design manuals, equipment manuals, software manuals, operator manuals, maintenance manuals, and record construction documents detailing the exact installation configurations.
