About this file
This document is a Request for Information (RFI) for the EHRM Infrastructure Upgrade Albion Clinic project located at the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System Albion Street VA Clinic in Nashville, TN. The project involves furnishing labor, materials, and equipment to prepare the site for building operations per the drawings and specifications.
The RFI contains questions from the contractor READIGOV related to various aspects of the project, including data cabling, grounding and bonding, existing infrastructure, room phasing, electrical panels, core switching, asbestos, and receptacle requirements. The government responded to each question, often directing the contractor to refer to the specifications, drawings, and Statement of Work for additional details. The solicitation has a set-aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses, a value range of $100,000 to $250,000, and requires a site visit. Proposals are due by the date stated in the document.

Floor Plans / Drawing
REPLY NEEDED BY: Oct 19
INFORMATION NEEDED:
VA HEFP SEP (SOCAMES 16) Design Alert 16 The VA recently released Design Alert 16 specifying Work Area Outlet (WAO) counts and density. Based on the section “If in construction”, the direction from the VA states if there are more than two (2) drops per WAO, consider reducing to two (2).
Design Alert 16 also states that two (2) Category 6A cables fit within a 3/4” conduit with 40% fill capacity, and if this is the case the existing conduit can be reused.
1.The floor plans show each WAO having three (3) drops, two (2) data and one (1) voice. Will Design Alert 16 impact this project, or should contractor bid as shown with 1V/2D to each outlet?
2.If bid as shown, should the bid assume existing conduit can be reused and does not require upsizing the conduit to fit three (3) CAT6A cables?

Grounding and Bonding
REPLY NEEDED BY: Oct 19
INFORMATION NEEDED:
Keynote 3, on ET401, states to “run grounding conductor for SBB to primary bonding busbar (PBB). The PBB does not exist run TBB to the electrode system, as defined in section 250 of NFPA 70.” The TBB within the design drawings is currently shown as #1/0, but sizing will need to be based on the distance ran per TIA standards.
There will be a significant large cost difference between grounding from the new SBB to an existing PBB, or to the electrode system.
1.Please confirm if there is an existing PBB within the Albion Clinic that can be connected via grounding conductor and provide the location of the PBB.
2. If confirmation is not provided regarding an existing PBB being available, please provide direction on whether the bid should assume connection to the grounding electrode system instead of connection to an existing PBB. Provide the location of the building grounding electrode system.
