About this file
The document is a 48th Semi-Annual Groundwater Quality Report letter from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Southeast District to the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in West Palm Beach. The letter reviews groundwater sampling results from 21 monitoring wells collected on February 26-27, 2025, by AECOM Technical Services Inc. Laboratory analysis revealed arsenic concentrations above Groundwater Cleanup Target Levels (GCTLs) in three monitoring wells and iron above GCTLs in 12 monitoring wells.
The FDEP concurs with the consultant's recommendations to continue semi-annual groundwater monitoring, conduct further analysis of specific monitoring wells for manganese and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), and submit the next report by October 31, 2025. The letter also provides updated submission guidelines, including a request to email all Waste Cleanup correspondence to SED_Permitting@FloridaDEP.gov and use secure file transfer for large files. The document is part of ongoing environmental monitoring for the West Palm Beach VAMC site, with FDEP Site ID ERIC_10627.

Dear Mr. Price:
The Florida Department of Environmental Protection Southeast District (Department) has reviewed the above referenced document dated May 5, 2025, (Received May 7, 2025) prepared and submitted by AECOM Technical Services Inc (AECOM) for the above referenced property.
The Department notes that groundwater samples and depth-to-water measurements were collected from 21 monitoring wells on February 26 and 27, 2025. Samples collected were analyzed for total arsenic and iron and compared to the Groundwater Cleanup Target Levels (GCTLs) as provided in Chapter 62-777, Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.).
Laboratory results indicate that arsenic concentrations were detected above GCTLs in three (3) monitoring wells (DMW- 15RN, DMW-15DN, and DMW-11). Furthermore, iron was detected above GCTLs in 12 monitoring wells (DMW-2N, DMW-8R, DMW-15RN, DMW-15DN, DMW-
21, DMW-3N, DMW-3D, DMW-11, DMW-13, VA-2, VA-4 and VA-5)
The Department concurs with the consultant’s recommendation to continue the semi-annual groundwater monitoring, further analysis of monitor wells DMW-3N, DMW-11, and DMW-12 for manganese, and further analysis of monitoring wells DMW-22, DMW-23, and DMW-24 for
TDS. The next Report submittal should be received by the Department no later than 60 days after the sampling event (submittal on or prior to October 31, 2025). In accordance with Chapter mailto:Cory.Price2@va.gov
