About this file
This document is a two-page specification for fire extinguisher cabinets (Section 10 44 13) associated with a VA construction project for a new hybrid operating room in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The specification details technical requirements for recessed fire extinguisher cabinets, including fabrication specifications such as forming the cabinet body from 0.9 mm thick sheet steel, creating doors and trim from 1.2 mm thick sheet steel, and using 6 mm thick clear acrylic glazing. Key construction details include fully welded and ground smooth face joints, doors designed to open 180 degrees, continuous hinges, pull handles, and adjustable roller catches. The cabinets will have a baked-on semigloss white enamel interior and a manufacturer's standard prime coat on doors and frames suitable for field painting. Installation instructions mandate mounting the cabinets in prepared openings according to manufacturer guidelines and ensuring the extinguisher height meets NFPA 10 requirements.
