QUESTIONS & ANSWERS & SITE VISIT RESPONSES
RFQ # 36C24819Q0163 - 0003
QUARTERLY SIMPLEX FIRE ALARM TESTING & INSPECTION SERVICES
1. Does the VAMC have any areas that require night or weekend work? If so please list the areas requiring night and or weekend work.
Customer response: In the past, contractors have performed inspections in the parking garage and atrium (smoke evacuation systems) after hours or on weekends. Access to the devices in the operating rooms may also need to be scheduled after ours or on weekends.
2. When was the last time the (3-year) testing of the pre-action performed?
When was the last time the (5-year) testing of the pre-action performed?
Customer response: We would suggest the bidders expect to perform both types of inspections during the term of the contract. If these inspections will increase the pricing for the scheduled year, we would suggest listing them as a separate line item to be inserted in the proper year after award.
3. How many waterflow detectors are located on the James A. Haley campus in all buildings?
Customer response: This was answered in the amendment.
During the site visit, a few questions were asked. Below you will find the response to the questions asked during the site visit.
Inspection reports will be uploaded to the Amendment 0003. Please see attachments for the inspection reports.
Number of Duct Detectors: Consulted with Customer & COR and COR believes that there are NO duct detectors above the ceiling in any asbestos areas (or any need for the contractor to go above the ceiling in the asbestos areas). He also did not recall the previous contractor needing to use the booth in other buildings, but we wanted to include it since there are some duct detectors above the ceiling in building 38 (NOT an asbestos area, but patient care areas).
Number of Asbestos: All of building 2 is an asbestos area, but there should be no need to go above the ceiling here. In building 1 most of the ground, first, and second floors are asbestos as are the center core areas (around the elevators) on all other floors as well as some other areas on the seventh floor.
Number of Elevators: There are thirty-eight (38) elevators.
Number of Sampling Ports: The location of the test port for the Vesda unit is in the mechanical room where the main unit is located and not in the atrium.
***Closing Date for solicitation has been extended to*** 12pm NOON on 12/31/2018.
