About this file

This specification section (08 34 46) details requirements for radio-frequency-interference shielding doors for the Durham VA Healthcare System's MRI replacement project. The specification covers factory-assembled doors with specific technical requirements, including electric and magnetic field shielding performance (SEdB greater than 60 dB from 1 kHz to 18 GHz for electric fields, and 30-94 dB for magnetic fields). Door hardware specifications include continuous hinges, privacy lever locks, 7-pin removable cores, wall stops, 10" kick plates, and compatibility with existing Physical Access Control System (PACS). The doors must have a Sound-Transmittance Class of STC-40 minimum, high-pressure plastic laminate finish, and an aluminum low-profile threshold. Installation requirements emphasize precise mounting, using non-ferrous fasteners, ensuring compatibility with existing systems, and maintaining radiofrequency shielding performance.
