About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document containing 59 RFI responses for a VA renovation project to convert Building 500 into a Patient Business Center in Martinsburg, WV. The document clarifies various technical and administrative requirements for bidders.
Key clarifications include: the Period of Performance is 180 calendar days, not 303; hard copy bid bonds and bids are required prior to the in-person bid opening at Building 306A; commissioning will not be required; the project is not tax exempt; TB screening protocols under specification 013526 1.13 must be followed; two persons must be on site at all times (Superintendent/CQC Manager with SSHO authority); the ICRA Classification is II/C; and most work can occur during normal hours except for shutdowns affecting adjacent areas. The VA will provide Revit files and existing condition drawings, allow temporary office space within the project boundaries, and permit use of Procore for project management. The document also addresses specific technical questions about doors, glazing, cabinets, abatement work, and mechanical systems.

# RFI Question VA Response 1 Stanley is the spec’d basis of design for both the automatic sliding door and the manual sliding doors. I spoke with them and they will only quote the automatic sliding door 1A-C21A. The manual sliding doors spec’d as Stanley DuraCare 7200 are, according to Stanley, not the right product and not something they are going to quote.
(I have reached out to both Horton and AD Systems to have them quote the manual sliders. Horton will likely have the same answer as
Stanley and AD Systems is a nightmare to deal with, sometimes they never respond.)
All manual sliding door are surface mounted. Horton's Profiler Barn
Door Series is an acceptable substitute.
Door 1A-178 has HW Set 3 which is for the Manual Sliding Doors. The
Floor Plan shows it as a swing/pivot door, likely because there is not enough clearance for the slider. But, since it is a swing door, should we quote it as a Kawneer storefront door? Or something else? And what hardware set should we use for this door since HW 3 is for the sliding doors?
Door 1A-178 should be quoted as a Swing door. Modified Hardware
Set 3E will be should be added to Door 1A-178.
