About this file
The file is a Contractor Questions and Answers document for solicitation 36C24425B0003, relating to a roof replacement project at the Coatesville VA Medical Center. The document provides detailed clarifications on project specifications, including replacing the pitched shingled roof of Building 1 with GAF Timberline HDZ shingles, replacing dormer roofs with copper, cleaning and lining gutters connected to the pitched roof, and addressing wood decking replacement (approximately 1,000 square feet). Key clarifications include no requirement for snow guards, no infrared moisture scan needed, and confirmation that dormer roofs will be replaced with copper instead of existing tin sheets.
The project involves comprehensive roof replacement with specific safety and logistical requirements, including phased work with prior notice to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR), ensuring no debris falls during demolition, and maintaining patient safety. The contractor must coordinate extensively with VA medical staff, work Monday to Friday from 6:30 am to 5 pm, potentially conduct some after-hours work, and complete the project within 160 days of Notice to Proceed. A second site visit is scheduled for 11 April 2025, and architectural drawings and specifications were provided with the amendment. The project is being conducted by the Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration at the Coatesville VA Medical Center in Pennsylvania.
