1. The amendment states the previous specs were re-uploaded.
Was anything new added to the specifications? If not, has any item been changed in the specifications? The specifications have NOT changed from the original posting.
1. The amendment states that we should now anticipate medium to large boulders underground along the entire line of civil demolition and remove them from the site.
For bidding purposes, how many rocks should be anticipated to be removed?/how many truckloads should be priced into the bid for rock removal?
· The contractor shall calculate the total volume in (ft^3, yard^3 or m^3) of the areas to be excavated for the trench, manholes, etc. based on the scale of the drawings that depicts the length, depth and width of the trench and other areas that need to be excavated including the manholes and spreader area.
· Drawing CS502 detail 7 depicts the requirements for the trench composition and fill.
· ALL excavated area in the trench, manholes, spreader area, etc. shall be removed from the campus as per contract requirements on this project.
· The VA COR shall inspect the trench daily to assure that ALL requirements are being met before closing the trench.
· A note from previous excavation projects, the soil has more rock here than what you may find in other areas such as Buffalo. Many of the rocks are approximately 6” to 8” in diameter and it is NOT uncommon to find rock much larger that are 15” to 20” in diameter. The rock that will be encountered is granite, limestone, etc.
· Refer to the contract drawings and specifications with respect for requirements on backfilling and topsoil. The contractor shall provide a submittal on backfilling material and topsoil. Some key notes (NOT all inclusive, the contractor shall review the entire contract) are as follows:
· Refer to detail #7 on drawing CS502 for trench detail, all materials are imported. Provide submittal for approval.
· Unsuitable backfill is defined in specification section 31 20 11 (size of rocks, tec) in section 1.2.A.
· The contractor shall install suitable backfill above the outlined pipe as defined in the specifications and drawings.
