Appendix D.1 ASR – Section V Special Space Requirements – 1.p Logistics – i. and ii. suggest that both a sloped down ramp and a level ramp with lift are required for the facility. Appendix C.1 – 4.1.1.3 provides additional clarification on the dock requirements. Since these requirements are somewhat contradictory, can VA please clarify the requirements for the loading dock area?
Delete/disregard Appendix D.1 section V(5)(p)(ii) "Install level ramp with lift capability". Provide one bay suitable for semi-truck deliveries with dock lift/leveler at semi-truck access height, and one bay for smaller delivery trucks.
Medical Gases: The first page of the ASR states that ‘zero’ patients will be incapable of self-preservation in this facility and also that there will be no medical gases piped within the facility (cylinder use only), thus falling into Business Occupancy for Zoning/Permitting purposes. We’d like to confirm that this is the case, given that there is a plan for an Oral Surgery room in the Program for Design.
The ASR is correct. No medical gases piped within the facility are required (cylinder use only). It is the bidder's responsibility to ensure zoning compliance in accordance with the VA's ASR and the local zoning authority.
