1. Spec Section 23 09 23 - DDC Controls for HVAC - calls for exhaust fans interlocked by EC and electric heaters have on-board stand-alone controllers.
Please confirm the intention of the specification.

The intent of the exhaust fan interlock is to manage emergencies. In the event of a smoke/fire alarm the exhaust fan will Shutdown and all instrumentation will return to failsafe positions. The fan will auto reset after the emergency situation has cleared.
Electric unit heaters will be provided and installed with an on-board thermostat controller. Each heater is a stand-alone unit.

“5.1.9 Cast Iron Piping Cast iron is the preferred material for sanitary and vent piping due to noise reduction, durability, fire resistive properties, and it is made of nearly 100 percent recycled content. With written approval from the VA Authorities, PVC meeting VA Master Specifications installed per the Plastic Pipe Institute recommendations can be used in low temperature, horizontal, buried soil and waste pipe in buildings under 1,400 sq. m [15,000 sq. ft.]. Switch to cast iron above grade.”
