Fire Alarm Specs section 2.01.A.3

In section 2.01.A.3, it is indicated that schedule 40 piping is required for pipes less than 4 inches.

In section 2.01.A.4, it is indicated that threaded couplings and accessories should be used for pipes less than 4 inches. In section 3.01.I.J.1, it is indicated that threaded unions should not be used in pipes with diameters greater than 2 inches. Could you please clarify the requirement? It is usually allowed to use grooved-rolled joints on 2-inch and larger schedule 10 pipes and threaded joints on 1-1/2” and smaller schedule 40 pipes. The use of Listed schedule 10 pipes allows for greater hydraulic efficiency and also reduces the load on the ceiling structure.

The first specification is according to the SI standard, while the latter is according to NFPA 13, The contractor must meet the SI standard for the job.

Refer to reply on RFI 17 & 20.

General General

Confirm that you will be responsible for leaving the area completely clear without furniture or equipment.

Yes, STRI will be responsible for leaving the area completly clear without furniture or equipment.

Architecture A-NP-102 In areas where walls will be removed and floors will be left bare, will we have to remove complete pieces of flooring and replace them in order to follow the same format?

It must be ensured that during the demolition process, damage to the floor pieces is minimized, with the objective of avoiding the complete removal of the tiles. In cases where the damage is significant and it is not possible to repair the affected pieces in situ, it will be necessary to install a new tile as specified in the finish schedule.

Structure General During a visit, a contractor realized that the beam to support the truss that is attached to the building is on the internal axis of the building and not on the side where we are going to work on the truss. They commented that they would send a detail for this connection.

For more details on what to assume refer to SF Reply to RFI 051. Also Refer to the existing structures plans shared on the reply to RFI 050, Detail 2B of the file "1993 Library Roof 3" from the Tupper Library expansion, if was executed as the detail recall the exisitng trust shall be accesible form the side where the work will be excecuted.

Structure

We were unable to obtain the detail of the connection of the new structure with the existing one on axis 8

Details DC-C S507 should apply. It is important to note that Truss type "A" from existing condition drawings is concealed in the exisiting wall, thus exact details of this truss as it has been built are not available. During demolition, the condition of Truss "A" should be evaluated and analyze if this shall be kept and truss CH-8 is built beside, or replaced by CH-8. However, if additional information is needed at the time of execution, this will be provided by the A/E.

General General

Will the existing bathrooms have some type of renovation? Or do they stay on the floor, fixtures and walls as they are?

The existing bathrooms remain the same in terms of finishes (walls and floor) and doors. The only renovation included in the bathrooms are the demolition and replacement of the ceiling finish and ceiling devices as indicated on the Mechanical drawings for those areas.

Architecture A-NP-102 In the finishes box there is an item that indicates: nickel finish covered column. Can you specify exactly what this finish is?

The powder nickel finish at finishes schedule is the name of the finish distributed by MÓZ. They distribute this kind of cover for columns. The specific model that we have specifed is CC100. Details of these elements can be found on drawing A-501DT (DT20, 21,22,23,24). Here is a picture of the powder nickel finish look:

Architecture A-NP-102 What would be the specifications for exterior paint? We only see the one inside. Refer to reply on RFI 75. Colors should match exisiting- codes to be provided by the COTR during the execution.

Architecture A-NP-102 Can you better specify what you mean by patched concrete on the floors? a finish exactly?

By "patched concrete," we are not referring to a specific finish. The existing floor is covered with vinyl, which must first be removed. Next, any cracks in the concrete should be repaired using an appropriate filler or additive (by this repais we are referring to patch concrete). Finally, the concrete must be polished to achieve a smooth surface.

Architecture A-CP-105

In these areas we see that there is no sky marking, is this an error in the plan?

It isn't a draft error, in those parts indicated, there's no ceiling because the roof in those spaces has a different shape. For further clarification, please refer to drawings A-DT-502, DT1, and DT2.

Sprinkler floor F-FX-102

Does the existing sprinkler pump system require any maintenance? What company currently provides this service for warranty issues?

The contractor shall consider that the existing pump system that is not indicated to be replaced is working appropiatly and if any maintenance work is required will be coordinated with the SF-STRI Maintenance department through the COTR.

HVAC M-HP-101 We do not see the thermostat outputs on the plans.

UE02 Thermostat is in RM 113, UE01 Thermostat is in RM 117, UE03 Thermostat is in RM 124. All Thermostats are showed in M-101-HP

Architecture A-CP-105 Above the slatted ceiling, should the ceiling structure be painted?

Yes, the structure above the ceiling should be painted (refer to spec 09 00 00). However, the contractor must propose the painting system based on the manufacturer’s recommendations. The manufacturer will specify the necessary substrate preparation. In principle, it should be the same system used for the new trusses. Typically, this involves SSPC-SP3, depending on the type of paint used. Additionally, the structure below the ceiling must be repaired and painted if any damage occurs during construction (refer to the demolition note).

DWG F-FX-102 (Page 46/65)

In Drawing F-FX-102 there is a note indicating all sprinklers in zone 2, will carry sprinkler's guards, but the limits for zone 2 are not indicated. Can you mark in a box Zone 2 limits?

Refer to reply on RFI 87

Fire Suppression

DWG F-FX-102 (Page 46/65) DWG F-DT-503 (Page 49/65)

Symbology in drawing F-FX-102 shows some installed sprinklers to be relocated and others to be maintained and a note in the same drawing says that all fire sprinkler systems should be removed, additionally a note in drawing F-DT-503 says that we have to reused sprinklers in good shape. As per NFPA 13 and SPEC 211313 3.01.E, we can't reuse sprinklers when they are uninstalled. Can you confirm that all the components and sprinklers to be installed had to be new?

All sprinklers will be replaced

Fire Suppression DWG F-FX-102 (Page 46/65)

Symbology in drawing F-FX-102 shows a new hose cabinet and extinguisher, but we can't find any new one in the drawing; only one existing. Can you confirm if we have to install a new hose cabinet with extinguisher and if it is necessary in what place?. We have to replace the existing hose cabinet and extinguisher?

The cabinet will not be replaced, the existing extinguishers will.

Fire Suppression DWG F-FX-102 (Page 46/65)

In drawing F-FX-102 there are only shown 3 fire stop passes for fire sprinkler pipes. Can you confirm that these are the only fire stop passes needed? Are we need to consider other pipes passes that need fire stop systems? Is the answer is yes, please mark it in the drawing to be taken into account.

All pipes (from all systems not only fire suppression) that penetrate a fire rated wall are required to comply with detail DT2 on sheet A-104. Refer to the location of the fire rated barriers locations on the same sheet (A-104).

Consider that on the annex side the wall are full height and on the reading area (where the roof is going to be replaced) the walls are not full height (to the roof). The contrator need to coordinate the paths and the penetrations barriers accordinly.

Fire Suppression

Can you confirm that the fire pump and fire pump's specs are not included in the scope of this work?

The pump is outside the scope of the project.

Fire Suppression

DWG F-DT-503 (Pag 49/65) 21 13 13 Wet-pipe sprinklers systems

Notes in drawing F-DT-503 says design is based in NFPA 13 2012 but specs 211313 WET-PIPE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS in say NFPA 13 2019. Has the drawings notes more precedence than the specs?

The specification continues as a guide, the project will be governed by the NFPA-2019 regulations.

Fire Suppression Spec 21 13 13 Wet-pipe sprinkler systems, 1.07

Specs 211313 WET-PIPE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS in 1.07 says that the sprinklers heads has to be align with the reflected ceiling and all ceiling-mounted equipment, such as diffusers, lights, security cameras, fire alarm systems, exit signs and other items but we are not the designers. Can you confirm if the designers take into account all these requirements in the design of the fire sprinkler systems?

In the annex area, the sprinklers will be installed 20 cm below the ceiling, while the pipes will be level with the top of the slab. This arrangement ensures there will be no interference with other elements, as the pendant lights hang 10 cm from the ceiling, allowing the pipes to be positioned above them and the sprinklers to be at a lower level. In the rest of the library, the sprinklers will be flush with the ceiling.

We are also considering that trusses will cause interference in some areas.,this interference has been anticipated and is permitted according to norm 10.2.7.1.6 and 10.2.7.2.1.7 from NFP-13_2019.

However, we have identified two lineas of sprinkles that during construction must be relocated 30cm away from the location indicated in the drawings to avoid interference according to the norm. If a detailed plan with this adjustments is required it will be provided once the contractor is selected.

Fire Suppression Spec 21 13 13 Wet-pipe sprinkler systems, 2.03.C.1

Specs 211313 WET-PIPE SPRINKLER SYSTEMS 2.03.C.1 says a wet pipe system shall be provided with a listed relief valve not less than 1/2" set to operate at 175psi or 10 psi in excess of the maximum system pressure, whichever is greater, but in the drawings there are no indication in what place to put this. Please confirm: are we have to include a relief valve in the riser manifold or any other place in the sprinkler system? If the answer is yes, please mark or indicate the place to be installed.

The system pressure is below 175 psi, however the relief valve must be considered in the zone control, as planned for the future
