About this file

This is a flagpole and flag specification reference sheet for a Request for Proposal (RFP-AFI-2026-123) issued by The Alliance for Innovation (AFI) as the lead contracting agency, in collaboration with Edge Public as the cooperative remarketing partner, to supply flags, flagpoles, and related accessories to participating public agencies nationwide. The solicitation establishes minimum requirements for flagpole and flag products for public sector use, with all materials and products required to be new and compliant with applicable standards. The specification document does not specify quantities, response dates, due dates, site visits, or bidders' meetings; rather, it functions as a technical and performance standard document that all bidders must satisfy in their proposals.

The specification requires flagpoles constructed from either aluminum (Alloy 6063-T6) or steel (ASTM A53 with hot-dip galvanized coating), engineered to withstand wind loads per ASCE 7, with anodized or powder-coated finishes. Flags must be manufactured from nylon, polyester, or cotton with UV-resistant, colorfast dyes and reinforced stitching, conforming to official U.S. flag proportions per Executive Order 10834 and sized according to pole height (ranging from 3' × 5' for 20-foot poles to 6' × 10' for 40–50-foot poles). All installations require concrete foundations, qualified installation personnel, compliance with local building codes, and post-installation inspection. Vendors must submit shop drawings, engineering calculations certified by a licensed professional engineer, product data sheets, and warranty documentation. Award will be based on technical compliance, total cost (materials, labor, and delivery), proposed timeline and availability, and service support capability and geographic coverage, with all components carrying a minimum one-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
