About this file
This document is a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) file for a Macon-Bibb County road milling and paving project. The project involves full-width asphalt milling and repaving operations on county roads, with milling extending from curb lip to curb lip or road edge to road edge on roads without curbs. The asphalt topping will be placed at a thickness of 1.25 inches on most roads, with Fulton Mill Road receiving 1.5 inches. Patching operations will utilize 12.55mm asphalt at a 1.5-inch depth and will be performed to a maximum depth of four inches as needed to remove cracking. The 9.5mm asphalt layer will be Type 1 and placed at 1.25 inches thick. Additional project requirements include clipping and removing shoulder material from the site, adjusting or replacing manholes and water valves as determined in the field, and completing final repaving within one day of milling work.
The project operates under standard work hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, with special night work requests available by approval. Advanced warning signs may be placed on tripods or post-mounted at contractor discretion. Patching areas will be at least one lane width, with contractors exercising judgment on specific areas requiring repair. The contractor is not required to perform shoulder building, grassing, or install Low/Soft Shoulder Signs on roads without curbs and gutters, nor is driveway paving included in the scope. Asphalt compaction testing submissions to Macon-Bibb County are not required. Shuttle buggies are permitted but not mandatory for asphalt placement operations.
