NO. 6 PORT DISTILLED WATER TANK
Three N.T. Floors were discovered three shipyard special survey prior. Following sketches shows detail and locations of damage and actions performed to ensure detrimental members are within tolerance.
1. NOT TIGHT FLOOR 151 in way of the lightening hole Inboard. Section between the inner bottom tanktop and the bottom plate has a slight soft buckle ≈24" x 18" x 1/2". Adjacent Inner bottom longitudinal stiffener and the bottom longitudinal stiffener along with the vertical flatbar does not have any sign of deflection. Bottom plate in way of the floor does not have any indication of contact or inset. Damaged floor is surveyed quarterly by the Chief engineer to monitor if the damage has any propagation.
Defect/flaws found
- Floor cutout wrap weld to the inner bottom tanktop was fractured 1" outboard of the Inner Bottom
Long'l #1. Fractured was peened and NDE performed, found wrap weld was acceptable and no indication exist.
- Floor Web fractured 1" in way of the cutout radius for IBL #1, not a thru fracture. Fractured was peened and NDE performed found wrap weld was acceptable and no indication exist.
- Floor rat hole snipe wrap weld inboard to the bottom plate was fractured 1-1/4" just outboard of Bottom Long'l #1. Fractured was peened and NDE performed, found wrap weld was acceptable and no indication exist.
