1 SCOPE
The TOWN plans to construct a living shoreline stabilization and enhancement project along North Lake Way along the Lake Worth Lagoon. This project will integrate engineering and environmental solutions, including a nearshore rock breakwater system, a restored mangrove habitat, and a stabilized upland slope with native vegetation. The project serves to provide stability to the existing eroded shoreline, ecological enhancement and beautification of the vista along the Lake.
Currently, the shoreline along N. Lake Way consists of riprap (stone and concrete) with a seawall present only along the middle section. Over time, erosion has displaced much of the riprap, leaving sections unprotected. While some mangroves have naturally established in the tidal zone, invasive species dominate parts of the shoreline. All construction will be conducted from land based operations. The proposed design includes a breakwater with a crest width of 2.5 ft and a crest height at 1.37ft NAVD. The shoreline will be regraded and native vegetation will be planted in the appropriate tidal zones. The dominant plant species to be planted will include red mangroves (Rhizophora mangle), black mangroves (Avicennia germinans), and white mangroves (Languncularia racemosa). The CONTRACTOR shall provide all machinery, labor, equipment, supplies, and materials necessary for all operations in connection with all aspects indicated in the following Technical Specifications and the Construction Plans for this project.
• Shoreline Stabilization, Mangrove Restoration, Development, and Trimming and Exotic Vegetation Removal and Native Planting o Breakwater Shoreline Stabilization o Mangrove Restoration and Development o Mangrove Trimming o Exotic Vegetation Removal and Native Planting
The breakwater structures shall be constructed prior to commencement of beach fill placement, unless specific alternate project work plans as proposed by the CONTRACTOR are approved in writing by the TOWN. Work to construct the beach fill shall not impact the breakwater construction area until breakwater structure acceptance has occurred.
2 CONSTRUCTION WINDOW
Work under this contract shall commence no earlier than July 1, 2026 and only upon receipt of Notice to Proceed from the TOWN. Upon CONTRACTOR mobilization to the site, breakwater construction, mangrove restoration and planting, and exotic vegetation removal and native planting will commence promptly, prosecuted with diligence, and fully completed within three (3) months
