About this file

This document is an Addendum to the Utility Plan for the Ambucs Park Sports Complex Improvements project located in Land Lot 207 of the 2nd District, Spalding County, Georgia. The project consists of upgrading an existing youth sports facility which includes baseball fields, a gymnasium, pavilions, and other facilities. The scope of work includes regrading and upgrading the five baseball fields, upgrading the gymnasium with a new ADA access ramp, installing new walkways, bleachers, batting cages, bullpens, dugouts, lighting, and miscellaneous accessories throughout the park. The stormwater piping system will also be replaced and expanded, and seven new parking spaces with curb and gutter and asphalt paving will be included.

The soil suitability code legend provides details on the different soil conditions across the site and recommendations for proper installation of the on-site wastewater system. The document also includes notes on site preparation, drainage, and absorption field construction. This project is part of the 2025-002 INODIC Grants Park Improvement Projects solicitation, which also includes upgrades to Volunteer Park in Talbot County, Georgia.

UTILITY PLAN

SOIL SUITABILITY CODE LEGEND

Soils are typically suitable for conventional absorption field with proper design, installation and maintenance.

Soils are typically suitable for conventional absorption field with proper design, installation and maintenance. Soils have been cut leaving saprolite at or near the surface. Based on texture and structure of the saprolite, these soils should provide a suitable percolation rate.

Soils consist of poorly-sorted fill material that is unsuitable for septic system construction.

Soils contain somewhat shallow parent material, saprolite and seams of partially weathered rock. Hand auger borings have been advanced to 6 feet and parent material is generally suitable for conventional absorption field installation. Estimated perc rate accounts for presence of seams of weathered rock.

Soils contain 24 to 30 inches fill over well drained upland soil. Natural soil below fill is generally suitable for conventional absorption field construction. Absorption field should be installed so that drain field material is entirely in natural soil. Recommended trecnh depth should be referenced from existing grade at the time of the soil investigation.

NOTES:

· Terraces in the vicinity of absorption field construction should be graded out to improve surface water drainage.

· Soil boundary lines should be considered transitional zones between different soil conditions or series rather than an exact boundary.

· System installation should not occur under saturated or wet soil conditions

· Absorption fields should not be installed on concave slopes.

· Surface drainage should be diverted away from absorption field lines.

· Gutter downspouts should be discharged away from the vicinity of the on site wastewater system.

· Estimated percolation rates are based on full-sized system performance. However, no guarantee is given or implied as to the performance of any particular system installed.
