About this file

This document is a comprehensive Project Manual for the Downtown Urbana Parking Deck Renovation project, prepared by Smith/Burgett + Associates for the City of Urbana, Illinois. The project manual, dated August 6, 1993, details a renovation of an existing parking deck, with bids to be received in the Office of the Director of Public Works until 1:30 P.M. on the bid date. The project encompasses multiple alternate bid packages including joint treatment, deck treatment, wall treatment, and coping repair. Key work includes water cleaning of precast concrete surfaces, patching surface spalls, removing and reinstalling precast concrete coping, installing new stainless steel anchors, applying water repellent coatings, and installing various sealant systems. The project requires comprehensive documentation, including shop drawings, product data, and detailed specifications for concrete preparation, masonry restoration, and finishing.

The project manual provides extensive technical specifications for materials and installation, with specific requirements for concrete preparation, sealants, coatings, and painting. The City of Urbana will authorize use of existing utilities and pay for consumables, while the contractor is responsible for extending or modifying services as needed. Bidders must provide a bid deposit of 10% of their bid amount and comply with the city's Equal Employment Opportunity ordinance. The project includes warranties ranging from two to ten years for various components, depending on the specific work performed. Contractors must adhere to strict quality assurance standards, including surface preparation, material compatibility, and installation techniques specified in detailed technical sections covering concrete, masonry, thermal protection, and finishing work.
