About this file

This document is a Summary of Work section (Section 01 11 00) for a Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) project involving Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Replacement at the Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF) Pump Station 2, scheduled for February 2025. The project encompasses comprehensive electrical distribution system upgrades, including the replacement of six existing low voltage VFDs, installation of new medium voltage VFDs, procurement and installation of new pump motors, and extensive electrical infrastructure modifications across multiple electrical buildings (EB-1, EB-13A, EB-13). The work involves detailed sequencing with specific steps to maintain power redundancy and minimize operational disruptions, including carefully coordinated pump and motor replacements, switchgear transitions, and electrical system reconfigurations.

The project requires a systematic approach with 16 distinct sequential steps, each focusing on specific equipment replacements, electrical system reconfigurations, and power distribution modifications. The contractor will be responsible for developing a detailed construction schedule, ensuring that only a single VFD and pump are out of service at any time, and maintaining N+1 power redundancy throughout the project. Key technical requirements include procuring services from Emerson and Rockwell for system integration, developing standard loop drawings, performing pump dynamics analysis, and conducting pre-modification and post-modification testing. The project aims to upgrade and modernize the electrical infrastructure while maintaining continuous facility operations, with the Owner having the ability to utilize partially completed work upon successful start-up and testing of each VFD/motor pair.
