About this file

This is an Equipment Solution Planning (ESP) specification report prepared by Smith Seckman Reid, Inc. for Harris Health's renovation of the CT Scan Suite and CT Simulator Suite at Smith Clinic in Texas, with an estimated project budget of $1,700,000. The document contains detailed specification coversheets for 16 medical equipment items and associated infrastructure components required for the CT imaging facility upgrade. Major equipment includes two CT scanners (GE Healthcare Discovery RT and Revolution Apex models), a contrast media injector (Ulrich Medical syringeless system), a patient alignment laser system (LAP DORADOnova 3), vital signs monitoring equipment, medical-grade refrigeration, and various ancillary equipment such as emergency carts, patient transfer boards, defibrillator cabinets, and hand hygiene dispensers. Equipment quantities range from one to four units depending on the item type and room designation (CT imaging, CT simulation, control rooms, and support areas). Lead times for major equipment range from 30 to 120 days, with the GE Discovery RT and Ulrich injector requiring 120 days and the Revolution Apex requiring 112 days.

The specifications detail comprehensive electrical, structural, HVAC, and operational requirements for installation and commissioning of all equipment. The GE Revolution Apex CT system requires 480V three-phase power with 200,000 watts maximum draw and 283 amps, while the Discovery RT requires 480V power with dedicated circuits. Infrastructure requirements include radiation protection measures with shielding specifications, vibration isolation requirements, structural floor and ceiling modifications, cable management systems, and climate control specifications (operating temperature 18-26°C with 30-60% relative humidity). Installation specifications are provided by equipment manufacturers including GE Healthcare's comprehensive pre-installation manuals containing site readiness checklists, electrical layouts, radiation protection details, and customer responsibility requirements. All equipment specifications are formatted as standardized coversheets documenting physical dimensions, electrical requirements, utility connections, mounting types, architectural codes, and ordering information, with lead times and installation instructions prepared to support the overall facility renovation project.

STRUCTURAL NOTES

· all steel work and parts necessary to support ceiling mounted equipment is to be supplied by the customer or his contractors.

· methods of support for the steelwork that will permit attachment to structural steel or through bolts in concrete construction should be favored. Do not use concrete or masonry anchors in direct tension.

· all units that are wall mounted or wall supported are to be provided with supports where necessary. Wall supports are to be supplied and installed by the customer or his contractors. See plan and detail sheets for suggested locations and mounting hole locations.

· all ceiling mounted fixtures, air vents, sprinklers, etc. To be flush mounted, or shall not extend more than 1/4" below the finished ceiling.

· floor slabs on which equipment is to be installed must be level to 1/4" in 10'-0"

· dimensions are to finished surfaces of room.

· customers contractor must provide all penetrations in post tension floors.

· customers contractor must provide and install any non-standard anchoring. Documents for standard anchoring methods are included with GE equipment drawings for geographic areas that require such documentation.

· customers contractor must provide and install hardware for "through the floor" anchoring and/or any bracing under access floors. This contractor must also provide floor drilling that cannot be completed because of an obstruction encountered while drilling by the GE installer such as rebar etc.

· it is the customer's responsibility to perform any floor or wall penetrations that may be required. The customer is also responsible for ensuring that no subsurface utilities (e.g., electrical or any other form of wiring, conduits, piping, duct work or structural supports (i.e. post tension cables or rebar)) will interfere or come in contact with subsurface penetration operations (e.g. drilling and installation of anchors/screws) performed during the installation process. To ensure worker safety, GE installers will perform surface penetration operations only after the customer's validation and completion of the "GE surface penetration permit"

FLOOR REQUIREMENTS

FINISHED FLOOR REQUIREMENTS

· Installation requires a finish floor in the scan and control rooms

· The floor surface in the scan room directly under the gantry and table must be level.

· The floor levelness tolerance of the floor surface that the gantry and table will rest on is 6 mm [1/4 in] over a 3048 mm [10 ft] distance.

· Shims should not be used to compensate for a floor that does not meet this requirement.

· Eight or more floor covering openings that are 102 mm [4 in] in diameter are made to ensure the table and gantry rest on a solid surface.

These floor penetrations can be sealed if required.

· Concrete floors must have a minimum strength of f'c = 1.4 X10⁷ Pa [2000 PSI] at 28 days for (curing time) mounting floor anchors. It is the responsibility of each customer to have appropriate tests performed to determine and measure concrete strength.

· These requirements apply to all installation types.

Indications for Use The Revolution Apex Computed Tomography scanner is intend-ed to produce cross-sectional images of the body by computer reconstruction of x-ray transmission projection data from the same axial plane taken at different angles. The system has the capability to image whole organs in a single rotation. Whole organs include but are not limited to brain, heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, etc. The system may acquire data using Axial, Cine, Helical, Cardiac and Gated CT scan techniques from patients of all ages. These images may be obtained either with or without contrast. This device may include signal analysis and display equipment, patient and equipment supports, components and accessories.

This device may include data and image processing to produce images in a variety of trans-axial and reformatted planes. Fur-ther, the images can be post-processed to produce additional imaging planes or analysis results.

Clinical Highlights

Cardiovascular

1-Beat, High definition, motion free coronary images at any heart rate is enabled by a prospectively ECG-gated whole heart cardiac axial acquisition protocol that utilizes 160 mm of high-definition coverage with 0.28s rotation speed and real-time control to complete the scan in a single beat to ensure robust, low dose and high definition cardiac imaging for all heart rates, with or without beta blockers

• Whole heart coverage: 160 mm of high-definition detec-tor coverage with smart collimation to achieve IV contrast uniformity & temporal uniformity across the whole vol-ume.

• 1-beat Auto Gating: intelligently identifies the ideal time within the heart cycle to scan the entire heart in a single beat at any heart rate.

• Smart Phase : analyzes the motion of the coronaries 4 throughout the volume to auto-select the best cardiac phase with the least motion.

• Intelligent motion correction with SnapShot™ Freeze is designed to provide a 6x reduction of motion-blur while maintaining high spatial resolution and as demonstrated in cardiac phantom testing. The reduction in motion arti-facts is comparable to a 0.058s equivalent gantry rotation speed with effective temporal resolution of 29 msec, as demonstrated in mathematical phantom testing.

• Smart Arrhythmia Management: The system has been designed to improve the robustness of cardiac exams for patients with high or irregular heart rates and in situations involving irregular heartbeats, arrhythmia, atrial fibrilla-tions, PVC’s, etc. The system can monitor and alert the user to these situations and also recommend turning on Smart Arrhythmia Management mode. This mode avoids scanning during an irregular beat and rescans during the next regular beat using the same contrast bolus.

• Best in class spatial resolution at 18.2 lp/cm in z-direc-tion and 14.8 lp/cm in X-Y direction (measured at 2% MTF).

This spatial resolution provides clear images to help the physician with tasks such as accurately quantifying steno-sis in coronaries and other vascular structures.

1-Beat, comprehensive cardiac assessment enables acquir-ing motion free coronaries, rest or stress perfusion and func-tional data in a single beat, giving you a comprehensive as-sessment and potentially reducing the need for additional imaging tests. Integrated beam hardening reduction capabili-ties allows accurate perfusion assessment. The ability to per-form stress perfusion with motion free CCTA in a single exam can potentially reduce unnecessary dose by not requiring a rest perfusion exam in case no defects are found in the stress dy-namic perfusion acquisition modes

The Revolution Apex enables whole organ dynamic perfusion acquisition with up to 16 cm of coverage. This allows perfusion acquisition of the heart, brain, liver, kidneys and other organ and tissues with uniform contrast along with integrated beam hardening reduction. The scanner also allows a flexible aperture size and sampling rate during dynamic perfusion acquisitions, which is particularly beneficial in localizing anatomy of interest for brain and other perfusion acquisitions. This is enabled by selecting supported collimations from 5 mm to 160 mm for different aperture sizes and variable sampling rate groups, de-pending on the phase of the contrast - typically a faster sam-pling rate when the contrast bolus is arriving in the tissue, fol-lowed by a slower sampling during washout.

Revolution Apex also provides the ability to acquire a prospec-tively gated dynamic perfusion acquisition of the entire heart using up to 16 cm of coverage.

The scanner is also capable of 4D imaging to acquire both morphology and perfusion information from a single exam. This can help assess conditions such as congenital heart disease and visualize blood flow through vascular structures.

TAVR planning

Dedicated TAVR/TAVI protocols allow mixed acquisitions of the heart, aorta, and femoral arteries, with ECG-gated axial scans and non-ECG-gated axial or helical scans, using a single injec-tion of contrast media, covering 700 mm of anatomy in less than 10 seconds.

Calcium Scoring

The system also allows single beat acquisition for cardiac calci-um scoring.

Triple RuleOut™

The system enables robust Triple Rule Out studies with motion free coronaries, PE & aorta evaluation in a single exam. The system can cover the entire thorax anatomy in under 3 seconds to provide contrast uniformity at low dose.

Smart Phase is a purchasable software option.4

Smart Stroke , the stroke-dedicated hardware, software and 5 post-processing solution on Revolution Apex, can help physi-cians to reduce “CT scan-to-report” time and “door-to-treat-ment” time, to save more brain tissue of patients with stroke.

Whole brain CT perfusion with 70kVp, smart collimation and variable sampling can acquire temporally uniform dynamic blood flow information to achieve accurate volumetric perfu-sion values at lower dose.

Single phase or dynamic 4D whole brain CTA can be acquired within a single exam of whole brain CT perfusion to achieve comprehensive functional & anatomical assessment of the brain.

The system can also acquire cardiac…
