About this file
These are architectural and engineering drawings for a new staircase installation project under the Bureau of Reclamation (project number 465-512-60124 and related drawing numbers). The documents comprise detailed construction plans including location maps, site plans, kiosk details, staircase elevations, hand railing and baluster panel specifications, frame and grating plans, and foundation connection details for a multi-level staircase system.
The project involves construction of an exterior staircase with upper, middle, and lower landing levels connected by flights of stairs with hand railings and baluster panels. Key structural components include steel tube framing (rectangular and square tubes in various sizes), wood walking surfaces, concrete spread foundations at the lower landing, support posts with welded connections, and grating systems. The drawings specify materials such as 3/16" x 1.5" square tubing for hand railings, 1/4" x 2" x 12" rectangular tube frames, serrated bar grating, and various steel plates and fasteners. Foundation details indicate concrete piers with anchor bolts for post mounting. The design includes provisions for drainage, signage installation locations, and removable existing infrastructure. Estimated quantities are provided for materials including approximately 460 feet of rectangular tubing, 250 square feet of grating, and numerous miscellaneous hardware items. The drawings are marked "Released" and include engineer notes addressing deflection angle adjustments, welding specifications per AWS standards, and construction sequencing considerations.

1. Abbreviations: OE = Outside Edge and CL = Centerline. 2. Drawing scales are based on the Government's full size drawing sheet size of 22 inches width by 34 inches length. Adjust scale based on printed sheet size. 3. This drawing documents the existing staircase installation and dimensions. It should be used as a reference to designing, construction, and installation of the new steel Rio Chama Trail staircase. 4. The Government's objective is to use the existing foundations with out modification and installation the new steel staircase using steel handrail panels. 5. The Government has not analyzed the existing staircase structure for compliance with current design standards. The staircase was removed from Public use by the NM State Parks in 2018 due to the deterioration of the wooden features. 5.1. The existing staircase design used steel I-Beams, Channels, and square steel tube to support structural loads. The walling and hand rails were made from 2x exterior grade wooden members.

1. Elevations are drawing from the inside of the stairs looking outward. 2. Drawings scales are based on the Government's full size drawing sheet size of 22 inches width by 34 inches length. Adjust scale based on printed sheet size. 3. The Government's objective is to use the existing foundation with out modification and installation the new steel staircase with handrail panels. 3.1. The existing concrete foundation piers at the middle landing are approximately (east location) is 31"(h) x 16"(w) x 4'-8.5"(d) and the (west location) is 47.5"(h) x 16"(w) x 4'-8.5"(d). 3.2. The existing concrete foundation piers at the lower landing are approximate (north location) is 12"(w) x 48"(w) x 19.5"(h) and the (south location) is 12"(w) x 48"(w) x 26(h), 3.3. The existing concrete spread foundation at the bottom landing is approximately 42"(h) x 36"(d). 4. Field verify existing deflection angle prior to fabrication of staircase. If difference by more than two degrees consult designer. 4.1. Use 1/16" or 1/8"x4"x10" flat steel spacer plates to adjust deflection angle starting at middle landing traveling to bottom landing. Coat spacer plates with a high zinc paint prior to installation. 5. If comparing the distance from the middle landing to the spread foundation between the Existing installation and the new installation the variance has occurred from the number of steps and a small movement of the last stair series moving several inches to the south. 6. Location of kiosk will be determined in the field.

NOTES
Text
1. Drawings scales are based on the Government's full size drawing sheet size of 22 inches width by 34 inches length. Adjust scale based on printed sheet size. 2. Rail panels will be fabricated using 0.25" x 3" x 3" square woven wire mesh with 0.12" x 1" U-edging. Railing shall be fabricated from 3/16" x 1.5" x 1.5" square tube. Rail panels shall be connected to the railing tabs using 5/16"-18 x 1-1/2" button socket cap screws with locking nut. Railing tabs shall be fabricated from 3/16"x1.5" flat steel stock with varying length of 2" to 3" as required per location. 3. Install mounting hardware between landing and staircase prior to installation of the upper and lower stair treads, note limited clearances. 4. L1 and L2 represents Line 1 and Line 2 for anchor bolts.

NOTES
Text
1. Drawings scales are based on the Government's full size drawing sheet size of 22 inches width by 34 inches length. Adjust scale based on printed sheet size. 2. The Government's objective is to use the existing cast-in-place concrete foundations without modifications to installation the new steel staircase with handrail baluster panels. 3. Field verify existing deflection angle prior to fabrication of staircase. If difference by more than two degrees consult designer. 3.1. Use 1/16" or 1/8"x4"x10" flat steel spacer plates to adjust deflection angle starting at middle landing traveling to bottom landing. Coat spacer plates with a high zinc paint prior to installation. 4. Perform all welding according to AWS D1.1. The process shall used shielded arc-welding. All welds shall be full penetration through material except as indicated on drawings. All welds shall be cleaned of burs and splatter. All sharp edges shall be rounded.
