1. Firs greater than 20 inches DBH and Cedars greater than 10 inches DBH:

a. The first 64 shall be cut to 50 feet in length with rootballs intact and transported immediately to the Kittitas Conservation Trust – Little Kachess site.

b. Remaining to be cut to 40 feet in length with rootballs intact and hauled to the USFS stockpile site.

c. Rootballs to be minimum 2 times the diameter of the DBH of the tree.

d. Obtain any necessary permits for hauling on public roads and national forest roads.

e. Around each rootball hole, scalp sod and strip topsoil to a depth of 6 inches; retain and stockpile topsoil in accordance with Section 31 14 10 – Stripping.

3.03 STOCKPILING INTACT TREES

A. The first 64 felled Firs greater than 20 inches DBH and Cedars greater than 10 inches DBH outside of Area A shall be hauled to the Kittitas Conservation Trust – Little Kachess site and the remaining Firs greater than 20 inches DBH and Cedars greater than 10 inches DBH shall be hauled to the USFS stockpile site, both with rootballs intact.

1. If needed for transport, rootballs may be trimmed in an eccentric manner with the long dimension no less than twice the DBH.

2. Evaluate safety considerations related to the transportation of trees along public roads as part of the job hazard analysis (RSN 01 35 20-2, Job Hazard Analyses).

3. The Government may not be held liable for damage caused by the transportation of trees to the USFS site or Kittitas Conservation Trust – Little Kachess site.
