About this file
This document contains questions and answers regarding Solicitation No. 140P8420R0004 to replace the Brandy Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Building within Whiskeytown National Recreation Area in Shasta County, California. The solicitation involves upgrading the electrical service from 7A to 200A to accommodate a 100A water heater, pulling a 200A rated electrical wire through a 2" conduit from the meter panel to the new building, and constructing grounding systems and conduit installations in accordance with specification Section 26 01 00. SOLICITATION NO. 140P8420R0004
REPLACE BRANDY CREEK WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATIONS BUILDING,
WHISKEYTOWN NATIONAL RECREATION AREA,
SHASTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS RECEIVED TO DATE (THROUGH 8/17/2020):
Question 21: SHEET E01 DETAIL 2 IS THE ONE-LINE DIAGRAM. SHEET B28 IS THE
ELECTRICAL PANEL SCHEDULE PROVIDED BY THE BUILDING SUPPLIER ( CXT ). THE
AMPERAGE REQUIREMENT FOR THE HOT WATER HEATER IS 100. ON SHEET E01 THE
CIRCUIT FOR THE OFFICE LAB IS 70 AMP. THE CIRCUIT NEEDS TO ACCOMMODATE 100
AMPS
NPS Response: Plans have been updated (and provided as an attachment via this Amendment 0003 to the Solicitation). 100A water heater will remain, so the electrical service on the pedestal from 7A to 200A as depicted in the updated drawings, Sheet E01. With this update, a 200A rated electrical wire will need to be pulled in the 2” conduit. The generator will remain 45k KW size. PG&E has verified that with the proposed design that the utility does not need to make any upgrades on the utility’s side of the meter.
Question 22: This question involved multiple questions about power to new Building, as follows:
1.A) Where dose this conduit come from?
NPS Response: The pull box, near the building site, is there to mark and protect the termination point of the 2" electrical conduit running from the meter panel for the new building. The pull box should be removed and the conduit needs to be coupled to and continued approximately 30 more feet and stubbed up into the location for the new buildings electrical panel. Then approximately 300 feet of conductor cable will need to be pulled through the conduit to provide power from the existing circuit breaker in the meter panel to the new buildings electrical panel.
1.B) What size wire do you want? Number of conductors and size.
NPS Response: Consult Section 26 01 00 and electrical sheets in the drawings for size of wire and information pertaining to the conductors.
1.C) Do we need to add a over current breaker for this Feeder?
NPS Response: Construct in accordance with drawings.
1.D) What size ground rod and grounding conductor at the building site?
NPS Response: Grounding information is found in Section 26 01 00.
2.A) As we can run EMT conduit inside the building what type of conduit connectors do you want RT or SS?
Solicitation No. 140P8420R0004, Attachment No. 13
NPS Response: Conduit fitting information is addressed in 26 01 00.
2.B) Conduit strap type?
