RFIs to Solicitation 140P2122R0030 – HAVO Exhibit Design/Fabrication Services
1. Section 2.8.4, Production Budget - What was the original Production Budget that the project was initially designed to? Asking to get a better sense of the scale of adjustments that might be needed due to the increase in material and labor costs since 2017.
This is not a straight fabrication project of the original exhibit design. Knowing the original
Production Budget of the 2017 exhibit design is not relevant. It is more important for offerors to read and understand the solicitation’s Scope of Work and HAVO attachments which outline what is required under the contract, especially what is to be redesigned and what is to be deleted from the original exhibit design.
2. Section 2.8.4, Production Budget - Are design fees excluded from the stated Production
Budget? It does not indicate one way or the other.
Section 2.8.4 Production Budget identifies what the Production Budget shall include. It does not include costs associated with exhibit design.
3. Section 2.8.3, (pgs 12-13) - Is there a general estimate of the number of images that are expected to be replaced? (E.g 10% or 20%?)
We do not expect that images will need to be replaced. However, if through the design-build process, replacements are needed to accomplish exhibit redesign and design improvement, we would estimate a low number of images.
4. Section 15 (pg 50) - The Volume II - Past Performance says it is limited to 5 pages. Please clarify, as past performance questionnaires from both the prime contractor and subcontractors would total more than 5 pages.
5 Pages per Entity, should you provide for other than the prime contractor.
5. Will the south side ramp be finished before the fabricator installation date?
The south side ramp is completed. It can be seen partially in Attachment19_HAVO Photos of
Ohia Wing Museum. During the Post-award site visit, the contractor shall document the space and verify site conditions.
6. Can you confirm that the “Artifact Caption” is a high res digital print, wrapped to .040 signblank with matte overlam? The Graphic Schedule provided is blank in this area.
The Material Board on page 5 of Attachment20_HAVO PDII Exhibit Design Drawings Package says, “*Note: Graphics where edges will be exposed, like caption panels, image panels, and case background panels, graphics will be done in-house by fabricator as a high res digital print wrapped to signblank.” the The Artifact Caption’s Panel Process in Attachment 23_HAVO
Graphic Layouts List says, “wrapped to .040 signblank with matte.”
If the offeror wishes to propose an alternate imaging process and panel process, they can do so.
7. Could you list a pg number in Attachment20_HAVO_PDII_Exhibit_Design_Drawings_Package PDF where CA-02.03-A can be found? The same goes for CE-02.04-801.
CA-02.03-A (aka CA-02.03) is located on pages 6, 8, 9, 26-28, and 45 in Attachment20.
CE-02.04-801 Land Division Interactive is located on pages 8 and 32 in Attachment20.
8. Can you provide a file or schedule of the artifact list?
The artifact list is provided as the Accessioned Object Report in Attachment 22_HAVO PDII
Content Reports_Part1 with the solicitation.
9. Please specify which vitrine cases are to be made from 1/4” or 3/8” acrylic.
Attachment20_HAVO PDII Exhibit Design Drawings Package says that for typical 5-sided vitrines, 3/8” clear OP-2Acrylic shall be used while for smaller vitrines, it should be 1/4”.
Assume that the smaller vitrines are the ones that contain only one object or artifact: CA-02.02-
A, CA-02.02-B, CA-03.02.
10. Is the Exhibit Fabricator to provide desiccant cartridges/cassettes?
The contractor shall provide and install the necessary volume of desiccant.
11. Can cases be anchored to the floor? To the wall?
Cases may be anchored to the walls. Some of the flooring is original to the building so anchoring to the walls is preferable.
12. Please specify the width of the mounting flanges attached to the vitrine cases?
Attachment20_HAVO PDII Exhibit Design Drawings Package are only design drawings. The contractor shall provide fabrication shop drawings and catalog cuts including the hardware needed to fabricate the exhibit.
If the offeror wishes to propose an alternate method to producing the vitrine cases, they can do so.
13. Please specify the amount of lighting fixtures required in each glass floor case.
The Floor Case Lighting: Schedule + Specs is provided on page 29 of Attachment20_HAVO
PDII Exhibit Design Drawings Package. Quantities are highlighted in the yellow boxes.
14. What are the quantities for floor case lighting fixtures?
The Floor Case Lighting: Schedule + Specs is provided on page 29 of Attachment20_HAVO
PDII Exhibit Design Drawings Package. Quantities are highlighted in the yellow boxes.
15. Please specify the O.D. dimensions of Casse #02.02a. The dimensions listed in the embedded vitrine schedule on page 20 of the Design Drawings differ from the adjacent drawing detail #3.
We see that the Vitrine Schedule on page 20 of Attachment20_HAVO PDII Exhibit Design
Drawings Package says that Case 02.02a O.D. dimensions W x D x H are 18.5” x 14.25” x 6” while the adjacent drawing detail #3 indicates 18” x 14.25”.
During the Pre-Design Site Visit, the contractor shall review and document the object resources.
Information gained by the contractor shall be used to revise reports and drawings with corrected dimensions and layouts as needed to ensure that artifact cases shall be sized appropriately to fit the artifacts and labels that they display.
