Overview of project This project will rehabilitate the five campground loop roads (7,750 linear feet total), 166 campsites, and approximately 34.1 acres of campground area internal to the loops. The asphalt campground roads will be structurally rehabilitated and repaved, including the campsite parking spurs. The road and parking spurs will be modified to better accommodate RVs, while maintaining the historic alignment. The rehabilitation will correct drainage problems by installing culverts where necessary and improving the grading to reduce concentrated flows. Areas of severe erosion will be repaired. Campsites will be rebuilt to reduce individual campsite impacts on the natural area and to clearly establish campsite limits, while providing for level areas for tent camping. Deteriorated campground furnishings (picnic tables, fire rings, and bear boxes) will be replaced and campsite signage will be repaired.
