About this file
This document is a specification section outlining requirements for construction of an outdoor classroom at Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge in Illinois. The project involves supply and installation of a 40' x 70' metal building frame structure with steel roofing, concrete foundations and slab, electrical power and distribution, plumbing fixtures, and earthwork. Key requirements include a single span rigid frame design with hip roof at a 5:12 slope and standing seam metal roof panels. The structure must be designed to withstand applicable code loads including snow, wind, and seismic loads. The specification names American Building Products as a reference manufacturer and outlines qualifications for alternate suppliers. It provides specifications for materials, finishes, fabrication, installation of framing, roofing, concrete, electrical, plumbing, and earthwork. The related federal contract opportunity is for construction of a visitor center addition at Crab Orchard NWR to be awarded by the Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service.
