10/02/2023 Q & A for 140A1223Q0015 Yakama Furniture, Design, Installation and Removal Q: Will there be access afterhours to the building during removal and installation?
A: That may be a possibility and may be coordinated with Facilities Management. A POC will be given at award.
Q: Our question we wished to ask was for the specified bookcases. On our walkthrough we were asked to specify with lockable glass doors and wanted to ask if transparent acrylic was acceptable in lieu of glass doors to create the same effect. An additional question regarding the bookcases was that they’re currently specified as 24” deep but we find that clients typically prefer their bookcases to be 13-15” deep in order for the shelves to better accommodate the actual depth of stored binders/books while still being reachable. Can you confirm if it is still preferred that we specify 24” deep instead of the recommended 13-15” deep?
Example image of current specifications below.
A: Correct, acrylic is an acceptable substitute to glass. As for the depth, we believe you are getting that "24 in depth" from the diagram and not anything listed on the SOW. The recommended depth of 13-15" is perfectly fine and would be preferred.
Q: For the Glenwood Ranger Station, how many stairs are within the building that the furniture will need to be carried up?
A: • From the driveway to the sidewalk O One step over curb
• From sidewalk into building O 2 steps
• Main Office - From 1st Floor to 2nd Floor O 7 steps to platform O Stairs change direction O 7 steps to 2nd story
• Timber Sale Office - From 1st Floor to 2nd Floor O 8 steps to platform O Stairs change direction o 8 steps to 2nd story
Q: SOW calls for glass/acrylic front doors on all bookcases. Is glass/acrylic also required on all cabinets, overhead hutches, lateral files with storage, etc., or just the bookcases and select cabinets?
A: No, it is not necessary for all. Cabinets/hutches/lateral files can be the same paneling as what the item is made from.
Q: Frosted or clear glass/acrylic on doors?
A: Clear for any item that it was specifically requested for (i.e., bookcases) since things are being presented behind it.
Q: Was it determined that “guest seating” around conference tables could be four-post chairs with casters? It was indicated that would be fine for the conference tables (as the sled-base guest chairs are difficult to move) but SPECs suggest all guest chairs should be the same?
A: Yes that is correct. 4 post with casters for the conference tables, and then the same chair without casters for any set up along walls or seating areas.
Q: SOW calls for 32” x 72” bookcases w/doors. Our bookcases (with glass/acrylic doors) are available in appr. 15”d x 74”h x 30”w or 36”w. Yakama’s preference for 30” or 36” width?
A: Whatever the space calls for. If the area in question is wall to wall, please select what is necessary to fill the space entirely. If spacing it not an issues and they are standalone bookshelves, please default to the 36in.
Q: SOW calls for 22” x 16” end tables. Our specification includes 24” x 24” x 16”h end tables. Acceptable?
A: Yes. Acceptable.
Q: On all L-Shaped Desks, do the 24”d x 48”w return units require a modesty panel and end panel or would a single top (placed on the sit/stand base) without a modesty panel/end panel be acceptable?
A: I don't believe modesty panels are necessary, since almost all desks are placed up against a wall or cabinets. They have also never been mentioned, so please select the single top without.
Q: Are laminate overfiles (to be placed on Fire King fire files) acceptable? Glass or Acrylic doors or solid doors? Sliding doors or hinged doors? Locking or non-locking?
A: Overfiles are acceptable. Glass/Acrylic (will be used as bookshelves), no preference on sliding or hinged. non-locking.
Q: On conference tables, how many charging ports/pods (with how many outlets on each port/pod) are needed? One (1) on 72” centered? Two (2) on larger than 72” (at each end)?
A: Those measurements are fine. 1 per 72".
