OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE

• Operation and Maintenance is the responsibility of the landowner, City of West Haven, and will be done through an operation and maintenance agreement. Below are recommendations for site operation and maintenance:

• Protect LJlantings from pests (e.g. weeds, insects, diseases, livestock, or wildlife) as necessary to ensure long-term survival. Control weeds by mowing or herbicides. Mow frequently during the first year, if possible, to control weeds and encourage stand density.

• Inspect establishment frequently within the first 3 years of establishment. Replant areas of poor establishment due to drought, insects, or other events, which prevented adequate stand establishment. Replanting may vary from complete re-establishment to overseeing or spot planting.

• Do a periodic inspection and evaluation of vegetation to determine maintenance needs. Reseeding or replanting, and fertilization may be needed to ensure that this practice functions as intended throughout its expected life.

The New England Showy Wildflower mix includes a selection of native wildflowers and grasses that will mature into a colorful and vibrant native meadow. It is appropriate seed mix for roadsides, commercial landscaping, parks, golf courses, and industrial sites. Always apply on clean bare soil. The mix may be applied by mechanical spreader, or on small sites it can be spread by hand. Lightly rake, or roll to ensure proper seed to soil contact. Best results are obtained with a Spring or late Fall dormant seeding. Late Spring and early Summer seeding will benefit with a light mulching of weed-free straw to conserve moisture. If conditions are drier than usual, watering may be required. Late Fall and Winter dormant seeding require an increase in the seeding rate. Fertilization is not required unless the soils are particularly infertile. Preparation of a clean weed free seed bed is necessary for optimal results.

PRICE PER LB. $86.00 MIN. QUANITY 1 $86.00TOTAL: APPLY: 23 LBS/ACRE :1900 sq ft/lbLBS.

New England Wetland Plants, Inc. may modify seed mixes at any time depending upon seed availability. The design criteria and ecological function of the mix will remain unchanged. Price is $/bulk pound, FOB warehouse, Plus SH and applicable taxes.

DESCRIPTION

The extended-term double net erosion control blanket shall be a machine-produced mat of 70% agricultural straw and 30% coconut fiber with a functional longevity of up to 18 months. (NOTE: functional longevity may vary depending upon climatic conditions, soil, geograph-ical location, and elevation). The blanket shall be of consistent thickness with the straw and coconut evenly distributed over the entire area of the mat. The blanket shall be covered on the top and bottom sides with a 100% biodegradable woven natural organic fiber netting. The netting shall consist of machine directional strands formed from two intertwined yarns with cross directional strands interwoven through the twisted machine strands (commonly referred to as Leno weave) to form an approximate 0.50 x 1.0 in. (1.27 x 2.54

cm) mesh. The blanket shall be sewn together on 1.50 inch (3.81 cm) centers with degradable thread. The blanket shall be manufactured with a colored thread stitched along both outer edges (approximately 2-5 inches [5-12.5 cm] from the edge) as an overlap guide for adjacent mats.

The SC150BN shall meet Type 3.B specification requirements estab-lished by the Erosion Control Technology Council (ECTC) and Federal Highway Administration’s (FHWA) FP-03 Section 713.17

TimeTypemethod of Termination of Temporary Cover: No termination of temporary cover is needed. Blanket and tacks will bio-degrade in place
Method of SeedingPlantingSodding_2: lightly rake the soil, broadcast seed manually, spread half the mixture on the soil surface in one direction and sow the other half of the seed mixture in the opposite direction. A roller may be used to firmly set the seed in place.
Mulch Requirements Type RateAc_2: A biodegradable mulch erosion control blanket (such as the Rollmax SC150BN or equivalent) shall be laid down over entire seeded surface except where trees and shrubs are planted and tacked with wooden stakes. Installation shall follow manufacturer's recommendations.
Other Notes eg inoculants irrigating management plant protection etc: Soils should be warm enough to encourage seed germination. Be aware, some desired meadow species are frost sensitive, and need to be established well before the onset of frost.

Continued irrigation is necessary until the majority of all seeds have germinated. Irrigate early in the morning, 10-15 minutes for a minimum of 3 weeks.

Other: Mixing the seed with an equal or greater volume of slightly damp inert materials such as coarse-textured sand, vermiculite, rice hulls or sawdust may help improve seed distribution. A hand crank spreader is recommended for seeding.
