RFI #2.
RFI #14 – Site 2, Plan sheet C3 note 2, The plan notes call for the prefabricated vault toilet to have a minimum 7/12 roof pitch and a snow load rating of 350 psf. In speaking with a commonly used manufaturer of these units on USFS projects, this rating is over specified and will require new/additional engineering at the plant. This will increase cost and extend lead time. Existing vault units in production have a 6/12 roof pitch, and a snow load rating of 250 psf. According the manufacturer, these units have been installed at elevations up to 14,000ft. Will these new specifications of prefabricated units be acceptable?
Sheet C3 has been corrected to reflect a 250 psf snow load requirement and 6/12 minumum roof pitch.
RFI #15 – Site 2, Plan sheet C3, The scope of work and plans call for the new vault toilet building to be installed in the footprint of the existing toilet building to be removed. This and most of the surrounding area appear to be located on a giant granite “slab” adjacent to the lake. With subgrade excavation required for the new unit, will blasting be permitted if refusal is met, or will the location of the unit be moved?
Work Note 3 has been modified to require potholing prior to excavation and that alternative sites may be considered.
