REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) OFFICIAL RESPONSES

127EAW23R0002 - Hirz Mountain Lookout Restoration

RFI responses will be responded to as necessary in amendment format which will be posted to the solicitation via beta.SAM.gov

Telephone requests for information will not be accepted or returned.

RFI #1 – Will contractor be allowed to park a self contained, trailer on the government provided, staging area.

USFS Response – Yes, please refer to page 13 under section 5.1 Mobilization.

RFI #2 – Please provide copy of Hirz Mountain Lookout Restoration, “Lead-Based Paint

Report” prepared by Guzi-West, dated April 28, 2021

USFS Response – See attached document titled “Lead Based Paint Report_4-28-2021”

RFI #3 – Is the gate to the lookout locked? Sounds like the gate is about ¼ mile from the lookout.

USFS Response – The gate will be unlocked by the end of Nov 28th. However, as stated in Section

2.0 Background and Location: “Due to the steep grade, abrupt switchbacks and loose rock, the

Contractor shall consider the use of alternative four-wheel drive transport such as ATVs and/or

UTVs for transport to the lookout from the staging area/gated entrance. In any event, the contractor is responsible for understanding the access conditions and appropriate modes of transport to the work site.” We recommend walking the hill before attempting any drive up the hill from the gate. Also, there has been winter weather lately in the area. Use caution and be advised that there may be snow, especially in the shaded areas of the road.
