About this file

This Statement of Work document outlines a project for the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) to improve safety at the Oregon State Penitentiary (OSP) boiler plant by installing a secondary fire escape from the second-floor control room. The project involves modifying the boiler plant building by installing a metal platform and stairs leading from the control room to the ground outside, replacing an existing wall and window panel with a door to access the new escape route. The scope of work includes site preparation, erosion control, demolition of an existing glass curtain wall, cutting and preparing a new door opening, concrete pad installation, structural steel fabrication and installation, infill of glass curtain wall, door and hardware installation, final grading, debris removal, and restoration of disturbed areas through mulching and seeding.

The document explicitly excludes electrical work, relocation of an existing fuel tank and fence, and relocation of an existing storm drain line from the scope of work. No pricing terms, set-asides, funding requirements, or contract duration details are provided in this document.

STATEMENT OF WORK

OREGON STATE PENITENTIARY (OSP)

CONTROL ROOM FIRE ESCAPE

BACKGROUND AND PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The DOC wishes to improve safety at the Oregon State Penitentiary (OSP) boiler plant. A recent leak at the OSP boiler plant identified some desired system improvements, including the need for a fire escape from the second-floor control room. The only egress currently available from the control room is via an interior set of stairs. If there is a fire or other emergency inside the boiler plant, it could be necessary to escape via a secondary route.

This project will modify the boiler plant building to allow for a secondary exit. It will consist of a metal platform and stairs leading from the control room to the ground outside the building. The existing wall and window panel will be replaced with a door to access the platform and stairs.
