• Contractor shall remove all concrete, asphalt, and dirt from the existing sidewalk and dock Approach Area down to existing base and replace with new concrete.

• Material excavated from the project shall be removed from the USDA site and disposed of in an authorized landfill or recycling center. Load tickets to be submitted to the Contracting Officer’s Representative upon completion of the project.

• Contractor may use USDA crushed concrete from the USDA as new base filler material, if needed.

• New concrete shall be a minimum of 8” thickness.

• Contractor shall install new #5 rebar reinforcing 16” on center (2” from bottom of pour) in each direction in all areas receiving new concrete.

• Contractor shall remove debris/loose material and seal joints and cracks in existing and new concrete located within this area.

• The existing, in use, fence post footings shall remain in place. Asphalt and concrete removed up to these footings.

• Concrete to be removed up to the employee gate so as not to disturb the gate posts. Saw cutting a section of existing concrete to maintain the gate footings is acceptable.

• The footing located by the employee gate, see attached drawings for reference, is to remain in place. An expansion joint to be installed around the footing and the new concrete.

• See attached drawings for reference of the project’s area.

• Coordinate all downtime with the USDA for this area of work.

• All existing storm intakes/utility holes/utilities shall be maintained and protected during construction as they are.

• Contractor to provide cones and/or delineators to partition off the construction areas for the duration of the project.

Approximate area of work associated with this area is approximately 5,385 square feet.

Contractor shall verify actual dimensions and boundaries of the project.

Although there are no underground utilities and/or obstructions expected in the project area, Contractor shall perform locates in this area for underground utilities that may interfere with the installation of the new concrete.

See attached drawings for further reference, guidance, and instructions to the above areas.

Contractor shall take all precautions necessary to not damage surrounding campus areas, construction, utilities, and finishes including areas not noted to be in the concrete and paving scope. Any areas including pavement, utilities, grass, or prairie land that is disturbed by Contractor’s work shall be fixed to match existing construction and finish.

Contractor is responsible for all underground obstructions, infrastructure, and utility locates prior to breaking any ground in this project.

Load/delivery tickets for concrete deliveries and debris removed from site shall be kept and turned over to COR and the end of the project.

1.03 Intent of Contract Drawings

A. Government provided drawings, henceforth referred to as “Contract Drawings,” do not attempt to show complete details of building construction that may affect installation. Government provided diagrams of proposed systems are for reference only and do not necessarily show physical arrangement of all equipment and/or maximum number of devices. Minimum system requirements are shown.

B. Devices are shown diagrammatically only. System layout does not necessarily show maximum number of system components and should not be used for obtaining quantities for linear runs of conduits and wires.

C. Locations of existing and Government concept devices are approximate and may be distorted for clarity in representation.
