About this file

This is a construction permit approval letter from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to the USDA Forest Service regarding a noncommunity water system project.

The DEP has approved construction of a water system for the Loleta Recreation Center located in Millstone Township, Elk County, Pennsylvania (APS ID No. 1155101, Authorization ID No. 1556986, PWSID No. 6240802). The approved improvements include modifications to Loleta Well (Source No. 001) with casing extension and a new Boshart Industries pitless adapter, plus installation of a new water treatment plant (WTP 301). The treatment system specifications include 1-inch HDPE piping from the well through a smooth hose sample tap, lead-free Neptune T-10 water meter, boiler drain valves with vacuum breakers, chlorine injection port, two 305-gallon Norwesco storage tanks plumbed in parallel, salvaged Pulsafeeder pump (LPE4SA-VTT1-U03), and 30-gallon solution tank. Water distribution exits through a 4-inch Schedule-80 discharge pipe with sample tap location and water valve box. Any equipment substitutions must be submitted to DEP for review and approval on a like-for-like basis. Construction must proceed without deviations from approved plans affecting treatment process, water quality, or quantity without written DEP approval. The applicant must notify DEP within 15 days of construction completion, and the facilities cannot be placed into service until a separate operational approval is obtained from the DEP, which may include a system inspection.
