About this file
This document is a product specification sheet for Multi-Wall Polycarbonate Sheet glazing materials, specifically detailing two primary product lines: Makrolon (8mm Twinwall) and ACRYLITE Resist (16mm high impact acrylic double-skin sheets).
Makrolon 8mm Twinwall Polycarbonate: Makrolon is a multi-wall polycarbonate glazing product available in sheet thicknesses ranging from 4mm to 16mm, with standard widths of 47.25", 48", 71.25", 72", and 82.67" and lengths up to 48 feet. The product offers light transmission ratings between 31% and 82% depending on thickness and color variant (available in High Diffused HD Soft White, Clear, Opal, Bronze, Grey, and Blackout). Key technical properties include U-values ranging from 0.42 to 0.72 BTU/hr·ft²·°F, thermal insulation capabilities, and cold-forming radii between 29.5 and 94.5 inches. The product features 2-sided UV protection and heat reflective properties. Makrolon comes with 10 and 15-year non-prorated warranties against light transmission loss and yellowing. Installation guidelines specify vertical rib orientation, thermal expansion allowances of 1/32" per linear foot per 100-degree temperature differential, pre-drilled screw holes 1/4" larger than fastener diameter, and maximum purlin spacing guidelines for 4-foot and 6-foot wide sheets. Fire ratings include ASTM E84-01 Class A (NFPA); Class I (UBC), ASTM D635-74 Class CC1, and ASTM D2843-93 Low Smoke Density.
ACRYLITE Resist 16mm High Impact Acrylic Double-Skin Sheet: The 16mm ACRYLITE Resist sheet is a light-transmitting, heat-insulating, weather-resistant acrylic material with approximate dimensions of 1,200mm width (47¾") and lengths up to 10,973mm (36 feet). The clear (ORS22) variant offers 86% light transmittance and 82% total energy transmission with a 0.94 shading coefficient. Technical specifications include U-value of 2.5 W/m²K (0.49 BTU/hr·ft²·°F), R-value of 2.04°F·BTU·hr·ft², coefficient of heat expansion of 0.09mm/m·°C, and maximum service temperature of 70°C. The product carries a 30-year non-prorated full replacement warranty against yellowing, plus 10-year light transmission and hail resistance warranties. ACRYLITE Resist features a No Drip coating, anti-algae application, fire behavior rating of C2/CC2 per ASTM D-635, and load-bearing capacity up to 3,000 N/m² with support spacing recommendations detailed in a support spacing chart. Applications include canopies, carports, skylights, greenhouses, and pool enclosures.
