About this file

This is a technical specification document for metal roofing installation, specifically Section 07 WVA 01-1 of the construction specifications. The specification establishes requirements for installing new standing seam metal roof systems with aluminum panels conforming to ASTM B-209 at a minimum thickness of 0.032 inches (22 gauge), featuring a thermoset silicone-modified polyester factory coating system. The roofing system must meet or exceed ASTM E1514 standards and achieve FM Class 1-90 roof rating. Key product requirements include corrosion-resistant fasteners, aluminum flashing with matching 22-gauge thickness, and galvanized cast iron roof drains with specific model references (JR Smith models #1510 and #1550). The contractor must obtain manufacturer-certified installer status and provide comprehensive submittals including shop drawings showing elevations, joint details, flashing, and roof penetrations, along with product data, certifications, MSDS documentation, and a 20-year material and workmanship warranty.

Execution requirements mandate installation of treated wood blocking and grid nailers to the existing roof structure, with fastening completed according to manufacturer guidelines. Environmental conditions restrict work to manufacturer-specified temperature ranges with no rain forecasted, requiring the roof to remain watertight daily and before inclement weather. The contractor bears liability for all roofing-related damages and debris cleanup. Final acceptance requires a manufacturer-representative inspection validating the 20-year warranty, completion of a final government walkthrough, and delivery of a clean, finished product with no material remaining on site. All work must comply with NRCA Roofing Manual standards, OSHA regulations, and West Virginia safety rules.
