State and local contract award examples

A Standalone award is an awarded purchase GovTribe can show without a parent ordering instrument in the visible hierarchy. In GovTribe, these detail pages focus on the awardee, contract entity, award timing, source context, categories, files, and line items for that purchase. See the standalone award example in GovTribe.

Standalone award pages can show a focused awarded-purchase view with the buyer, awardee, source context, categories, files, line items, GovTribe AI, and summary content.

A Source and line items award has attachments, item rows, or category context that helps explain what the awarded purchase covers. In GovTribe, these records show related tabs when source files, line items, UNSPSC categories, or NIGP categories are available. See the source and line items example in GovTribe.

State and local awards can include files, line items, and category tabs that help explain the source award beyond the title and awardee.

A Parent IDV context award is connected to a larger state and local contract IDV when GovTribe can show that relationship. Use the hierarchy to move from the selected award to the parent agreement and review the broader buying context. See the parent IDV context example in GovTribe.

When hierarchy context is available, the award page shows the selected award beside parent IDV context so you can move between related records.

Badges

Badges summarize source fields and connected records on the Overview tab. Many badges include a menu that lets you filter GovTribe search by that value. When a badge says Not listed, GovTribe does not have a displayable value for that field on the selected award.

Use the linked attribute and data type pages for canonical definitions:

Hierarchy

Hierarchy appears when GovTribe can place the selected award in a parent state and local contract IDV or vehicle context. Use the hierarchy steps to move from the selected award to the related parent record.

Hierarchy context helps you move from a selected award to the parent state and local IDV when GovTribe has that relationship.

Some awards do not show hierarchy because the selected award is not connected to a displayable parent record.

GovTribe AI and descriptions

GovTribe AI appears when AI is available for the selected record and your account can use it. The summary and description area can show AI Summary and Description tabs when GovTribe has generated context and source description text for the selected award.

If the selected award has limited source content, the Overview tab may show only the fields GovTribe has available.

Source, line items, and files

The Source badge tells you whether GovTribe can show source context for the selected award.

For contact search and contact data, see Contacts and Contact data type.

For file context, see Government file data type.

Use similar awards to move from one relevant award to comparable awarded work. For the reusable workflow, see Find similar records.

Common questions

For general fixes for too many results, no results, unrelated results, broad Semantic Search matches, or filters that narrowed the search too much, see Troubleshoot search results.

How are State and Local Contract Awards different from IDVs and vehicles?

State and Local Contract Awards are awarded state, local, education, or related public-sector contract records. State and local contract IDV awards are parent ordering agreements or term contracts, while State and local contract vehicles are higher-level purchasing families, cooperative arrangements, or vehicles that can group related IDVs and awards. Use State and local contract opportunities for pre-award solicitations.

What is the buyer on a state and local award?

Use Contract Entity as the buyer or source-reported public-sector office on this page. The source may name an agency, department, school district, facility, cooperative participant, or other contracting entity, and the naming can differ from the broader state or jurisdiction context.

Why is Awardee visible but not available as a filter?

Awardee is source-reported on many state and local award records, but GovTribe does not always receive a normalized vendor relationship that can support a reliable awardee filter on this page. Use Contract Entity, State, award dates, and category filters to narrow the result set, then confirm the Awardee on matching records. See Vendor, awardee, recipient, and subcontractor roles.

What does State Local Contract IDV mean?

State Local Contract IDV limits results to awards linked to a parent state and local contract IDV. Not every award has a parent IDV, and not every IDV has a parent vehicle. When vehicle context matters, open the award or IDV and follow the related record links. See State and local contract data model.

How should I use NIGP and UNSPSC categories?

NIGP Category (NIGP category attribute) and UNSPSC Category (UNSPSC category attribute) both describe products or services, but state and local sources do not apply category systems uniformly. Use category filters to narrow the market, then confirm the title, description, line items, source link, and buyer context before treating a category match as final. See Choosing category systems.

Are line items transaction records?

No. Line items are item-level details connected to awards or IDVs when source data provides them. They can help identify goods, services, quantities, unit prices, and categories, but they are not a federal-style obligation or transaction layer.

State and local source data is uneven. Some records include source links, line items, files, contacts, categories, and parent-contract relationships; others only include a smaller source-provided award record. Use Source identifiers and record matching when comparing GovTribe records to outside procurement systems.
