Pursuant to FAR Part 10 (Market Research), the purpose of this notice is to:(1) determine if sources capable of satisfying the agency's requirements exists; (2) determine if commercial items suitable to meet the agency's needs are available, or could be modified to meet the agency's requirements; (3) determine the commercial practices of company's engaged in providing the needed service or supply; and (4) seek comments and questions from industry regarding the draft statement of work (SOW). Army Contracting Command- Rock Island (ACC-RI) has a requirement for 2 sets of APE 1236 retorts in the base year of the contemplated five-year IDIQ with estimated quantities of 0 to 2 sets for each of the four remaining ordering periods. Quantities estimated for the APE 1400 retorts will be 0 sets for the base ordering period and 0 to 1 set for each of the remaining four ordering periods.
These retorts require design, build, and acceptance test of the item fabricated in accordance with the drawings/specifications indicated within the purchase description and Technical Data Package (TDP). All technical data packages will be released with the official solicitation to interested offerors according to Distribution Statement D per DoD Instruction 5230.24, August 23, 2012.
This notice neither constitutes a Request for Quote, nor does it restrict the Government to an ultimate acquisition approach. It should not be construed as a commitment by the Government for any purpose nor will the Government pay for information solicited.

Synopsis: NASA/NSSC has a requirement for Timesavers Model Lynx 37MWT-DB-60. This is a Brand Name requirement. NASA/NSSC will be the procuring center for this effort.
