About Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority
Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA) is the sole provider of potable water for all residents of the Florida Keys, serving over 48,000 customers within Monroe County. FKAA transports potable water to the Keys through a 130-mile transmission system.
Through prime federal contract awards, FKAA has provided water and sewage utility services to the Department of Veterans Affairs and water services to the Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and to the U.S. Agency for Global Media Office of Cuba Broadcasting. These contracts ranged in value from $360 to $45,000, were completed between 2020 and 2029, and did not utilize any small business set asides.
As a subrecipient of grants from the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, FKAA performed utility mitigation actions to wastewater systems in the lower Florida Keys to prevent infiltration from sea level rise, storm surge, and heavy rains. FKAA also installed backup generators at a reverse osmosis facility to allow for continuous potable water service during storms. These projects were completed in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. FKAA also received Community Development Block Grant - Disaster Recovery program funds from the Florida Department of Commerce as a subrecipient.
