The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) has awarded a $18,351,521 Cooperative Agreement under the National Railroad Passenger Corporation Grants program (CFDA 20.315) to the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak). The grant funding will support Amtrak's efforts to modernize and improve the Northeast Corridor rail system through increased collaboration, transparency, and accountability with states, commuter agencies, and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Expected outcomes include expanded and improved intercity, commuter, and freight rail services operating with greater safety and reliability, reduced travel times, increased frequencies, and enhanced intermodal connections. The award has an expected completion date of November 1, 2029 and will benefit Amtrak, the Northeast Corridor Commission, FRA, and passengers of Amtrak service.
