The Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration awarded a $736,558 Project Grant to the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians under the Native American Employment and Training program (CFDA 17.265). The grant will support employment and training activities for unemployed, underemployed, and low-income American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians in Neshoba County, Mississippi from April 1, 2022 to June 30, 2025. Specifically, the grantee will provide career services, follow-up services for up to 12 months after exit, and training services as defined in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act to develop participants' academic, occupational and literacy skills and make them more competitive in the workforce. The grantee is expected to meet six performance outcomes around employment rates, earnings, credential attainment, skill gains and employer services. As the sole recipient, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians will directly provide most services and activities with little to no subrecipient involvement.
