About this opportunity

Dexter Community Schools is soliciting sealed bids for technology infrastructure at Wylie Elementary School, Dexter High School, and Dexter High School Field House in Washtenaw County and Detroit, Michigan, with bids due June 17, 2026 at 2:00 PM Eastern via BuildingConnected. This is a multi-discipline technology procurement (Bid Package #8 - Series 1 Technology) spanning five work categories: Low Voltage Cabling (fiber and CAT-6A across all three sites), Audio Visual Systems (classroom audio, video displays, and sound reinforcement), Access Control (door hardware and card reader systems), Security (camera and recording systems), and Dexter High School Theater System & Equipment (complete auditorium AV installation). Prevailing wage compliance under Michigan Public Act 10 of 2023 is mandatory, requiring all contractors to register with the Michigan Department of Labor & Economic Opportunity prior to work commencement.

Bidders must submit a single lump-sum proposal covering all five work categories electronically and complete mandatory prequalification via TradeTapp by BuildingConnected, including company information, three reference projects of similar size and complexity, current work schedules with completion percentages and claims status, and three years of Workers' Compensation Experience Modification Ratings with documentation. An optional virtual pre-bid meeting is scheduled for June 9, 2026 at 10:00 AM Eastern. Questions, pre-bid requests for information, and substitution requests must be submitted via BuildingConnected prior to the June 17 deadline. Public bid opening occurs the same date and time via Microsoft Teams.

The project encompasses detailed architectural and engineering specifications across three school facilities with comprehensive technology infrastructure requirements including fiber optic backbone connectivity, CAT-6A cabling with laser-printed labeling, IP-based clock and paging systems, 86-inch interactive displays in classrooms, security camera and access control integration, and theater-grade audiovisual systems with Dante digital audio networking and NDI video-over-IP capability. Electrical coordination is required throughout, with 120-volt dedicated circuits and power sequencing protocols specified for AV systems. Work must be coordinated with Granger Construction Company (construction manager) and TMP Architecture, Inc. (architect/engineer) to accommodate ongoing school operations—all asphalt trenching and temporary student access paths must be completed before the 2026/27 school year begins. Low Voltage Cabling includes two allowances totaling $15,000 ($10,000 for miscellaneous conduit; $5,000 for unforeseen conditions), and Theater System includes a $5,000 allowance for unforeseen conditions, both time-and-material basis.

Insurance requirements include General Liability ($1 million per occurrence, $2 million aggregate), Automobile Liability ($1 million combined single limit), Excess Liability/Umbrella ($1 million), Workers Compensation (statutory limits with $500,000 Employers Liability per accident and per disease), and Professional Liability ($1 million per claim and annual aggregate, $2 million for Subject Matter Experts). All coverage must be non-contributory primary on CG 2010 (1985 edition) forms with A.M. Best A or better carriers and 30-day cancellation notice. Completed operations coverage must be maintained for three years post-completion. Granger Construction retains bid coordination contact: Mallory Anspaugh, 517-318-4214 or manspaugh@grangerconstruction.com.
