About this opportunity

The City of Ocala, located in Marion County, Florida, is soliciting bids for ITB #PWD/241018 to provide comprehensive stormwater ground maintenance services for the Southeast section of the city. The procurement focuses on maintaining 69 drainage retention areas (DRAs) and 7 ditchline locations, requiring contractors to supply all necessary labor, equipment, tools, and materials for professional maintenance. Specific services include mowing top and slope areas, weeding around fencelines and structures, edging sidewalks and curbs, and managing vegetation growth. Bidders must possess a Florida Department of Transportation Temporary Traffic Control Certification and a Florida Right-of-Way Pesticide License. A mandatory pre-bid meeting and site visit was held on October 8, 2024, at 9:00 AM EST at the Public Works Department, with the bid due date extended to November 7, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsive bidder based on the total line items from the Price Proposal, with a three-year initial term and potential for two one-year renewals.

There are no specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises mentioned in the documentation. The solicitation does not list incumbent vendors or require integration with existing infrastructure. Pricing will be determined on a unit price basis, with the City paying only for actual units of service provided, and price increases limited to a maximum of 3% annually based on the CPI-U. Contractors must maintain specific insurance requirements, including $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate Commercial General Liability, Commercial Automotive Liability, and Workers' Compensation insurance. A notable contract stipulation prevents the awarded contractor from winning bids for other drainage retention pond maintenance contracts in the NW, NE, and SW sections of the city. Contractors must provide a valid contact number and be available during normal working hours, with direct coordination required with City Project Managers Brian Herrick and Dan Slivka. While a specific total contract value is not explicitly stated, the comprehensive maintenance requirements suggest a significant scope of work for the Southeast section of Ocala.
