About this opportunity
The Polk County Board of Commissioners is seeking sealed proposals for the Runway Line of Sight Correction project. The project involves the reconstruction of approximately 4,500 feet of the existing runway, including full-depth asphalt pavement removal and replacement, as well as asphalt surface milling and overlay placement. The project also includes the removal and replacement of two connecting taxiway pavement segments along new alignments, and modifications to the adjacent apron pavements to provide positive drainage and proper pavement tie-ins. The adjusted runway profile will require excavation of the underlying embankment materials, including re-grading of the adjacent runway and taxiway safety areas to meet design standards, while providing positive drainage. These pavement and grade improvements will require modifications to the runway and taxiway edge lighting and signage systems, as well as storm sewer systems. A non-mandatory informational pre-bid conference will be held on May 16, 2024, and the proposals are due by June 3, 2024.
The solicitation does not mention any set-aside designations or restrictions on the types of organizations that can respond. The contract documents are only available in electronic format (PDF) and can be obtained from the offices of Crawford, Murphy & Tilly, Inc. The bid bond required upon submission is 5% of the bid price. The solicitation does not provide any information about incumbent vendors, current contractors, or the available budget for the project.
