About this opportunity

Union County, Georgia is requesting proposals for a rescue/quick attack fire apparatus to be mounted on a Ford F-550 chassis, with proposals due July 16, 2026 at 3:00 PM and a written-questions deadline of June 24, 2026.

The apparatus is a 12-foot custom vehicle designed for emergency response in steep-terrain areas requiring an 18-degree minimum angle of departure. Core specifications include a Ford F-550 XL Extended Cab with 6.7-liter diesel engine, 4x4 drive, automatic transmission, 200-gallon water tank, Hale HPX-300-KBD24 water pump, booster reel with 200 feet of hose, and SCBA bottle storage. The body comprises heavy-duty extruded aluminum with six enclosed exterior compartments plus one open-air rear compartment, adjustable shelving, gas strut door openers, and drainage and ventilation systems. Electrical systems include 12-volt DC components, LED lighting throughout, backup camera and alarm systems, and telescopic pole lights compliant with NFPA 1901 standards. The apparatus must be painted Ford Race Red with Oxford White cab treatment, Diamond Grade reflective Chevron striping, and custom lettering matching the department's existing fleet. Assembly must be completed at the manufacturer's facility within approximately 180 weekdays of chassis receipt; no field fabrication is permitted. The manufacturer must provide a lifetime structural warranty on the modular body. A pre-construction conference will finalize lettering design, reflective stripe colors, electrical panel layout, compartment lighting, and other customization details.

Proposals are evaluated on a 100-point scale: company background (10 points), financial stability (10 points), relevant work history (10 points), warranties (10 points), service center and parts availability (10 points), delivery time (15 points), and pricing (35 points). Vendors must submit an original and three copies each of qualifications and pricing proposals in separate sealed packages. The pricing proposal must include all manufacturing, materials, labor, transportation, and delivery costs. Payment is due in full upon delivery and departmental inspection. Union County reserves the right to reject any proposal, waive irregularities, and negotiate modifications with the apparent winning proposer.
