About this opportunity
The School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, is seeking a qualified contractor to provide comprehensive pool and spa maintenance services for Oak Park School and Venice High School through Bid #26-0009. The procurement requires a Florida Certified Swimming Pool/Spa Servicing Contractor with a minimum of three years of verifiable pool maintenance experience to perform weekly services including vacuuming, sweeping, filter and tile cleaning, chemical level monitoring, and equipment inspections. Key deliverables involve maintaining acceptable pH and chlorine levels, providing all necessary chemicals, and ensuring immediate notification of any equipment malfunctions. The contractor must supply chlorine, salt, and other maintenance chemicals as part of the monthly service charge and be prepared to perform additional services beyond standard maintenance. Bid responses are due electronically via VendorLink by December 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. EST, with recommended awards to be posted on January 6, 2026, and School Board action scheduled for January 13, 2026. Written questions were required by November 19, 2025, with an addendum issued on November 20, 2025.
The solicitation includes provisions for Small/Minority Business Enterprise (S/MBE) certification, allowing vendors to self-identify as small or minority-owned businesses as defined by Florida Statutes 288.703. Bidders must provide three commercial references from comparable projects within the past 36 months and demonstrate compliance with background screening requirements per the Jessica Lunsford Act. The contractor must maintain comprehensive general liability insurance with minimum $1,000,000 per occurrence and workers' compensation coverage, with the School Board named as an additional insured. Emergency response is required within two hours of notification, with standard work hours defined as Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The contract term is one year from School Board approval, with options to renew for two additional one-year periods. While no specific award value is explicitly stated, the bid form includes provisions for monthly service charges for each location and hourly rates for additional services, with a maximum 10% markup on materials, subcontracted services, and rental equipment. The School Board reserves the right to reject any or all submissions or terminate the contract with 30 days' written notice.
