About this opportunity

The Long Beach Public Utilities Department is requesting quotations for the furnish, delivery, installation, testing, and commissioning of one mobile air-cooled scroll chiller unit with an integrated pump package factory mounted on a street-legal trailer, with quotations due electronically June 18, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Attendance at a mandatory pre-bid site walk on June 2, 2026 at 9:00 AM at the LBPUD Gas Facility (2400 E. Spring Street, Long Beach, California) is required; failure to attend results in bid rejection. Long Beach-based businesses meeting established criteria may receive a local-preference reduction of up to ten percent on bid price for evaluation purposes only, provided they submit a current City of Long Beach business license and seller's permit.

The chiller must have a minimum cooling capacity of 29.24 tons, use R-410A refrigerant, and feature MicroChannel coils with epoxy coating. The integrated variable-speed pump is rated at 70 GPM at 60.8 feet of head. The package includes 200 feet of #4 AWG electrical wire, a 460V/60Hz/3-phase disconnect box with 90-amp breaker, and two 150-foot lengths of 3-inch heavy-duty water discharge hose rated for 125 PSI. The contractor handles all state vehicle registration and documentation with exempt license plates issued in the name of LBPUD.

Pricing is submitted electronically via the Long Beach Buys portal for three line items: the mobile chiller unit including all materials and trailer, factory-certified startup and operational training, and freight and delivery to Long Beach. Quoted prices must remain firm for one year, and delivery must occur within twenty weeks of order receipt. The contract term is one year. The contractor must provide the manufacturer's full warranty including all parts and materials and submit a copy of the manufacturer's standard warranty with the bid. The contractor is responsible for all shipping, transportation, and freight costs associated with warranty service and repairs. Payment is made within thirty days of invoice receipt following delivery and acceptance.

Questions are due June 9, 2026 at 11:00 AM, with answers posted by June 11, 2026 at 3:00 PM.
