About this opportunity
The City of Dunwoody is soliciting bids for citywide ADA handicap ramp replacement under IWQ26-05, with sealed bids due August 3, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. The contractor must be GDOT Registered or pre-qualified in GDOT Work Class 441, or have successfully performed prior work for the City of Dunwoody.
The scope includes replacement of damaged or deteriorated ADA-compliant ramps at sidewalk intersections and pedestrian corridors citywide. Work encompasses traffic control, removal and disposal of damaged sidewalks, curb, and gutter, forming and finishing concrete, and site cleanup. The bid itemizes four pay items: installation of 28 new ADA ramps (estimated), installation of one detectable-warning-surface / truncated-dome unit, curb and gutter replacement (100 linear feet, if required), and sidewalk replacement adjacent to ramps (25 square yards, if required). All quantities are estimates subject to field verification, with the City retaining the right to adjust quantities as needed.
Unit prices must be firm for the contract duration and inclusive of labor, materials, equipment, tools, traffic control, disposal, hauling, and mobilization. The contractor must carry Commercial General Liability Insurance with a minimum $1 million combined single limit per occurrence and contractual liability coverage. Payment is unit-cost-based with 10% retainage on progress payments up to 50% completion, released upon final acceptance.
Work is anticipated to begin in Summer 2026 with completion by November 30, 2026, following a pre-construction meeting. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday work requires prior approval and 48-hour advance notice. Lane closures and traffic disruptions are limited to 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The contractor is responsible for utility location calls, daily housekeeping, weekly progress reports, traffic control plans, pre- and post-construction photos per site, and final acceptance reports. The City provides on-call materials testing at City expense; the contractor bears costs only for re-tests on failures. Questions are due July 28, 2026 to John Gates, Purchasing Manager.
