About this opportunity

The City of St. George is requesting bids for a prefabricated pedestrian bridge spanning 95 feet with a 10-foot width to cross the Virgin River Trail over the future George Washington Boulevard, with bids due June 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM MST and questions due by June 18, 2026 at 2:00 PM MST.

Bidders must be certified bridge fabricators holding the proper contractor's license for this project type prior to submission. The contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. The City intends delivery by March 1, 2027; bidders unable to meet this deadline must provide their estimated lead time with their bid submission. All bids must be submitted via sgcity-utah.bonfirehub.com and include a construction schedule with anticipated fabrication start and end dates.

The bridge design specifies a concrete deck with reinforced steel construction, weathered steel finish structural components, and cable railing systems with 1/4-inch diameter stainless steel strands spaced at 3-inch centers. Driven pile foundations and concrete abutments with wing walls, rock rip-rap erosion protection, a 6-inch reinforced concrete deck poured in place post-installation, and galvanized deck forms are included. The 42-inch guardrail incorporates an MSE wall with grape stake texture facing. Material and connection specifications include a 3/4-inch anchor bolt system with 6-inch minimum embedment depth to bearing plates supplied by the bridge manufacturer.

The awarded contractor must execute the Agreement, obtain performance and payment bonds, a Certificate of Legal Work Status, and insurance certificates within ten calendar days of receiving the Notice of Award. Liquidated damages are assessed at $250.00 per calendar day for failure to complete work within the specified contract time or any City-granted extension, with an additional $250.00 per day for failure to repair deficiencies within 10 days of notification. The City reserves the right to reject any or all submissions, waive any formality or technicality, and add or remove bid items at its sole discretion. All bidders and subcontractors must meet or exceed specified project experience and insurance requirements; failure to provide required documentation prior to Notice to Proceed issuance constitutes default, permitting the City to award the contract to the next lowest responsible bidder.
